Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
hi-po badge is stupid imho. Doesnt the 18/19 ecoboost make 310/350? I mean hey, another 20hp is nice but its not some crazy leap forward

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
Should have gone with the 2.7 V6 , horsepower 5 less but torque is at 380.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
That would be even better, but I think it would cut into 5.0 GT sales, which is their cash Cow!

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
Yes the 2.7L EcoBust would wake that car up. In fact, it would be faster than the 5.0 and that's exactly why they'll never do it.
Even in the F-150s, the 2.7L trucks mop the floor with the 5.0L trucks. It's ... hard for me to accept.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
I did read where the cars are supposed to be 200lb lighter in 2020. That's a good thing.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
I think Ford has made some good decisions with their Trucks and Crossovers, but in regards to the Mustang and it's future. Their heads are up their behinds!

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
And all this time, I have been hoping the Charger and Challenger would eventually get smaller and lighter, but instead the Mustang is on its way to becoming another member of the big and heavy club.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
unfortunately, in this day and age we can only partially blame vehicle weight on the manufacturer. there are so many safety requirements to meet that comparing a mustang today to a mustang even 5 years ago is not a fair comparison. my 2004 never had to consider lane departure warning, adaptive cruise, a pedestrian impact friendly hood, rear camera, etc etc etc. even if the vehicle is not spec'd for these options the groundwork is probably there and wiring/electronics adds weight. yes, improvements in metal and other weight savings materials has also made progress in that time, but the amount of tech that is being forced into vehicles these days is crazy and it all adds weight. it's not like ford wants to make each generation of vehicle heavier than the last.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
Don't worry Ford is saving the Mustang on Earth Day !
They announced that a new Electric Mustang is in the development stages... LOL. Saving the Earth has a problem that no one wants to discuss. There is still no safe way to dispose of the batteries ! Meantime Tesla that is openly laughing at Ford ,is fighting high amp shorting of wiring harnesses that have sent cars off the road or burned to the ground.

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
Minning the materials is pretty terrible as well, not to mention where the electricity comes from to charge it...

Re: 2020 Hi-Po 4 cyl?
Sad part is this new Hi-po 4cyl will likely cost more than a PP1 Gt.
No brainier there, coyote engine tick, and the glass-jaw shift forks in the mt-82 not withstanding Do a real 400hp version and call it SVO..... Beginning to think doing a FRPP 5.3 short block as a base for my next engine is looking smarter and smarter. Our cars are just so much simpler...
