k.b. 8 rib conversion

Those of you who have converted to an 8 rib for a Kenne Bell, did you piece one together from ford, or purchase it from KB?

I saved this link a year ago, not sure if its still correct. http://www.slugbitchracing.com/8.rib.conversion.htm

I'm not sure what direction to go with this. Need a little help guys.

Thanks

Go buy a Cobra snout for your KB and switch to the brackets pictured.
Much better than the single belt design!

Re: k.b. 8 rib conversion

I'm pretty sure KB doesn't have an 8-rib kit despite what their website states. I called on it years ago and that's what I was told. You could use the link you posted that Corey created years ago. The pic Zack put up looks a lot like the Eaton conversion which is ideally the way to go but requires many parts.

I'm just curious, why do you feel you need an 8-rib setup? How much boost do you plan to run through that 2.1? I'm running 16lbs. on my 2.1 with 6 ribs, except for the crank dampner, and I don't have any belt slippage.

Re: k.b. 8 rib conversion

MAX boost. Nobody has seen what this little guy will do. I intend on getting as much out of it as i can. Then a little spray if i need more. I've got enough suspension work to get the power to the ground.

Plus i'm tired of getting run down on the back half of the track. I get out of the hole well, good to 1/8 mile. Then these mountain motor cars with no suspension mods run me down, BAD.

Okay then! I don't think the 2.1 is going to be efficient much beyond 18-20psi, and it definitely is going to generate a lot of heat! And a single belt system trying to maintain that kind of boost, even an 8-rib, I don't see it working very well. I'm thinking the Cobra conversion to a dual belt drive is the way to go at that level of boost, oh and mabe a bigger blower. LOL!

I can't afford a new blower at this moment. I'll just run this one for another year. I'm sure that spray will cool down the IATs.

Out of curiosity, I'm curious to why your at 527 rwhp @ 16psi. Mustang dyno? Conservative tune?
9 psi made almost 470rwhp on mine. I switched over to a 13psi pulley and went 515rwhp. ( was still on factory bottom end with 10/1 compression.) Maybe that was the deal?

Re: k.b. 8 rib conversion

The 2.1 is WAY more efficient than the 2.2 ever was.

AA made 815 rwhp with a 2.1 and a 2 stage N20 kit on a Marauder with an Auto.

It was a conservative tune on a brand new, 8.5:1 compression motor. Pulling 17 degrees of timing at WOT, with 11.5 A/F across the entire RPM range. A few more degrees of timing and it's at 565rwhp and 530rwtq.
