Help Troubleshooting Dash Brake Light
I'm assuming this is the best place to put this. Ever since that curb destroyed the right side of my car back in October my brake light on the dash has been coming on intermittently. It might come on for a few seconds or a few minutes and it's the same for when it's off. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that light only come on if the parking brake is applied? AND, isn't the sensor at the base of the parking brake handle? I guess my point is, why is this light coming on randomly if the sensor isn't near anything that got hit? It couldn't be related to the fact that the right rear brake caliper is new, right?

Re: Help Troubleshooting Dash Brake Light
Is it the brake light or the ABS light?
Brake light on dash can come on for a few reasons. If it started happening right aftera brake change check the fluid level and make sure it's good. If low it can throw the brake light. Likely possiblity after a brake caliper change and the brake fluid wasn't topped off. My light always turns on when it's time to change the pads. Less pad = more piston movement on the caliper = more fluid in the caliper and less in the resovior. Check the ABS sensor by the wheels. A little magnet sensor that if it fills up with gunk (shavings and or grease) could throw the light. If it's the sensor it would most likely kill traction control too though.
