Unhappy WTF is up with this?

Went to a car show and Justin from VMP ws there with his portable Dyno.
Paid my money and boy was I shocked. Car is as in my sig but only made 247 HP and 263 TQ. Feels like it is much better than that. One of our club members has an identical Mach 1 that immed followed me and he made 280/300 only difference being his is stock rear gears and the 5-speed instead of the auto. Is my auto and the 4:10 gears taking that much? I am really dissapointed.

Re: WTF is up with this?

I think you will see about a 7-10% difference in power loss through an automatic. So that could be the reason why.

Re: WTF is up with this?

My bone stock auto dyno'd at 268.

You either got a crap tune, or maybe the dyno was off.

Re: WTF is up with this?

keep in mind that the heavier wheels and tires will lower your readings.

Re: WTF is up with this?

Could have been many things. Did you drive the car on the dyno. If you do not push the gas all the way your car will read low numbers. But there is a pretty good difference between auto and sticks.

Re: WTF is up with this?

A stock auto should get to mid 260s like others have said. What kind of tires are you running. Did it sound like they were slipping or spinning on the dyno?

Re: WTF is up with this?

Justin had one of his staff run the car. It didn't sound to me like the RPM was high enough to be a WOT run. I know it was a Dyno Jet mobile dyno as that is what the name plate on it said. I just don't think the guy did the throttle correctly. He had to ask Justin how to do it since it was an automatic. I am just curious what the difference between an auto and a 5 speed is and how much the 4:10 gears will effect it.

Re: WTF is up with this?

I put down 292.6hp and 316.8tq on his dyno with mods in my sig but Justin did all the tuning. I would get rid of the predator I was not happy with the way the trans shifted with their tune.

Re: WTF is up with this?

Are you using the tune that comes with the Predator? If so, that's your problem. I've seen more than one Mach that made less power with a Predator tune.

I don't know about that as a generalization though with the predator. I went to the dragstrip this past weekend and made a stock run and then put the predator tune in and made another run and it was 2 tenths faster. The 60' was slower because there was more wheel spin after the tune but it still made up the time throughout the rest of the quarter to go 2 tenths faster than the stock tune? It could just be car related too and this specific car is one that from the factory just isn't "quite right". There has been reports of that. I'm not saying that the predator is a good tuner, but on a stock car that has only had a cai installed it's ok.
