Re: cylinder head leak ?

I blew a gasket on my lightning and it leaked out between the head and block so it can happen

The machine shop checked the head before the install and they said it was fine. when I was cleaning the bolt passages in the block, there was coolant in one of them, I blew it off but was wondering if it the bold or maybe I need to re torque the head ? I was reading is some forums about a sealer used before the install ? I used Ford racing bolts and head gaskets brand new

Re: cylinder head leak ?

None of the head bolts on the 4.6 go into coolant passages. Only way you would be leaking is if the head is cracked or the head gasket is not sealing.

Btw no need for sealant on these head bolts. See above.

Re: cylinder head leak ?

Ya you don't need sealant... Head might have been checked but what about the block? May not have been cleaned properly, gasket might have been damaged, might not have been torqued properly etc
