manual transmission shifter boot
I recently installed a new MGW shifter in the Mach & when putting it all back together a black rubber grommet fell out of the inside of the leather boot...there is already one in there up top near shifter ball....does any body know if there are two inside , or where the second one goes ?

Re: manual transmission shifter boot
My car came w/o that bushing, now I know where mine got to! I must have been right in front of you on the assembly line. Just messin' with you. For real I think somehow you got an extra.

I don’t even remember one..? Mine looked as though it had a short shifter in it and was swapped back to stock. The boot came up close to the ball rather than up to the stop and the end of the ball.

Re: manual transmission shifter boot
Ours had one, it is basically a spacer to take up the slack between the "bottom" of the shaft and the shifter knob, so to speak...AFAICT. AND I think a lot stuck inside the boot when the person took it apart and they did not realize there was a spacer in there...IMHO
