CCI ammo

so now being out in the county on 14acres, I know I cannot carry the good old 410 shotgun with me on my mower. I had to clear the front and back pastures and the back held a few snakes, I finally got my .40 cal and took it with me, only saw one after I had it with me and I'm sure I missed the **** thing. the one before that was a copper head and tried to run him over, but i'm sure he sneaked on by. my ex-father n law told me about the CCI rat shot ammo, which I finally got on line and finally found some for my .40 cal, which was kewl because the place was right up the road. So now I am ready!
I know it will be a endless journey of snakes being around here, but each one I shoot is one less to deal with.
Hope I do not offend any snake lovers, but the snakes are not welcome out here.
So has anyone else used the CCI ammo? if so pros/cons about it?

ASh

Re: CCI ammo

didnt realize they had it for a .40. It sounds like the stuff Ive used in a 22 before, it worked fine on small snakes but I wouldnt be thrilled about it on a bigger snake. I would imagine it would do just fine in your caliber.

I saw it a lot for the 22, 9, 45 and others
I figure the 40 cal will do fine, my ex father n law has it for his 45 and killed a cotton mouth with no problem, so i'm sure the 40 will do good

Re: CCI ammo

Look out for Cobras. Some idiots are bringing them into Texas. One found dead on the road in Austin and one in a hotel in Houston. Like we don't have enough rattlers, copperheads, and moccasins.

Re: CCI ammo

Just saw this...

You can legally keep a monocled cobra in Texas. State law does not require a license for having one, but it does require a controlled exotic animal permit that you can get with a $30 fee.

that is sad, its harder to get your handgun license but easier to get one for a deadly snake, great

if they go bang every time you pull the trigger and don't leave a lot of residue in the chamber or barrel then there's no issues.

Re: CCI ammo

CCI is good quality ammo! I use the shotshells in .22, .22WMR, 38 &357 Mag so far. Pretty short range in comparison but that makes it safer in town! LOL...I got 6-7 gophers with the .22 one big RAT with the WMR...and a patterning target with the 38's & 357...I love them a lot...They have a plastic cup to hold the shot while traveling down the barrel. Protects the rifling that way.

The Rat I was kinda proud of....he ran like lightening I drew the Ruger Single Six ...thumbed the hammer back & dropped him in the blink of an eye! Deader than a doornail at 100 feet! Ok make that 10-12 feet....but he was moving!
