18" Actual Wheel Weight?

Has anyone weighed up a set of aftermarket 18" wheel before they mounted tires to them? I'm wondering how much heavier the 18x9" and 18x10" Bullitts are over the stock 17x8" wheels.

If no one has a wheel only weight, has anyone weighed out an 18" wheel with a tire mounted on it and compared it to the stock wheel/tire weight?

Re: 18" Actual Wheel Weight?

My 18X9 Ford FR 500's weighed 28.5 lbs each....2.5 lbs more than the stock wheels.

BTW and FWIW the 255X40X18 tires I use weigh 25 lbs each, about the same as stock 245's. They are a little wider than stock, but have less rubber in the middle, so same weight. I would have gone wider in rear, but didn't want the weight of 275's. I hated adding the wheel weight I did.

I have also weighed a AFS 17X9 stock copy, and it weighed 28.5. The same wheel in 18X9 weighed 29.5.

Remember it's those 30 or more lb wide tires that hurt more than a couple extra lbs of wheel.

I don't know what the FR 500 copies weigh. You can't pay much attention to advertised weights which sometimes are shipping weights. You have to weigh them yourselves which I have done.

Re: 18" Actual Wheel Weight?

Does anybody know how much the Steeda Ultralite 2 in the 18x9.5 weighs?

Re: 18" Actual Wheel Weight?

I haven't weighed the Steeda's, but they use a higher quality casting process than the popular price Chinese wheels like stock Ford wheels (Bullitt's, FR 500's, Mach etc), AFS wheels, etc. So are a little lighter.

The real deal OE Ford 95 R Cobra in 17X9 uses this same hi quality casting process, and they weigh 22 lbs each. I just wish they had a modern look. They are fantastic wheels for the price, even strong enough to road race with....something you can't do with these cheap heavy wheels.

Re: 18" Actual Wheel Weight?

The weights of these wheels is one reason I decided to go with the AR Torque Thrusts. Cost alittle more and didn't come in 18s, but they're 22lbs.
