Singer-actor Jerry Reed dies at the age of 71.
Jerry Reed, a singer who became a good ol' boy actor in car chase movies like "Smokey and the Bandit," has died of complications from emphysema at 71. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080902/...bit_jerry_reed East Bound and Down-youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHZJej98_T0 |

The Snowman is north bound..........
That movie is why I got into so much trouble as a teen driver! But me Toyota would not do some of the "tricks", lacked torque.

Re: Jerry Reed R.I.P
I'm very sorry to hear of Jerry Reed's passing. Guess who test drove the trucks in Smokey and the Bandit? I owned a new Trans Am at that time. I watched that movie more times than I can remember.
The film made use of three Kenworth W900A short-frame semi trucks which Jerry Reed's character "Snowman" can be seen driving, each equipped with 38" sleepers. Two units were 1974 models, as evidenced by standard chrome Kenworth emblems on the truck grille, and one unit was a 1973 model, as evidenced by the gold-plated Kenworth emblem on the truck's grille signifying Kenworth's 50 years in business. The paint code for each truck was coffee brown with gold trim, and the 48-foot mural trailer used was manufactured by Hobbs Trailers in Texas with a Thermo King Refrigeration unit. I have the Gold name plate and the special license plate frame for the 50th in my collection.
