Before you change the MAF sensor try cleaning it with a special cleaner for them . This will either confirm or deny your MAF.
The main way water gets into the engine is the shaker to hood seal. Cover the entire motor up in news paper or paper towels then shut the hood and pour a small bucket of water on the hood. Then open the hood and check for wet spots.
