See if the studs tighten down sufficiently if you use three, as there may not be enough threads for them to do so. Also, make sure the hood opening doesn't press against the bottom half of the shaker after you raise it, which has been known to start cracks in the fiberglass hood. 3/16" is probably the most you can raise it, 1/4" is definitely OK.
