in maryland it's considered a moving violation.
so with that in mind, new york says that all moving violations are assessed 2 points upon conviction, except for certain violations. the table that has these other violations can be found at
http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/license.htm scroll down and you'll see a white box with a bunch of violations listed
