Thanks. Alternator is out following some jiggling and rotation, and terminal cover is now slid up using a bit more force. Your memory is good.
I'm still looking for advice on lifting the engine, as there's nowhere obvious to lift from. All the engines I've pulled in the past have had lift brackets permanently fitted.
