Important used car information

To all those buying or looking a Mach 1 (or any other car for that matter), please be aware that there are cars out there that have been exposed to the ravages to Hurricane Katrina. Understand that cars which were sold after Nov.'05 have a Flood Salvage title, and may actually state 'Katrina' on the title to indicate the salt water damage these cars have suffered. The scary past of this is that cars which made their way out from Aug. thru Nov. will not have this informaiton on their titles. Cars are being legally sold from the devistated area, and are pretty much useless except for some parts. The corrosion infects everything from electrical systems to anything mechanical. Cars that are suspect and may have a history from that area (Gulf Coast from Biloxi to New Orleans) should be inspected thoroughly, and if there's any question to its validity, I would either suggest a tear down of areas that are not normally checked (int.of steering column, kick panels, under the console, etc.) so that any remnants of such problems would be found in areas not normally attended to.
