Yes, selling it should not even cross your mind unless your life (or someone's) directly depends on it. Since it seems that this is not a case, get that out of your head.
I wouldn't worry too much about people only showing interest, but not following through. It's a complex project and you're still not fully complete. I think that once you're done and show what the car is capable of, it will be much easier to get 'converts' then.
