I have done one as well; very easy. However, I was replacing my HIDs with them in a light smoke headlight; they were terrible. HIDs went back in.
Behind a clear Lens, I suspect they would be good. One thing to note, mine had fans over the heat sink; that is a failure point as a moving item. The fans seemed really cheap and did not have any IP rating on them, meaning they did not appear to be tested, qualified or even looked like they would handle the environment if a good splash hit them. May not be a big deal at all, but worth noting.
