If you have access to a Greyhound bus station, they are your best bet on large-item shipping. I've shipped bumper covers through them for about $75 (half to a third of UPS/FedEx).

Another good bit of advice I read somewhere years ago. Before making any passes...hit the areas behind the wheel openings with a heavy coat of wax...but don't wipe/buff it off. Leave the thick haze...
