Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

After a lot of time and frustration, the crank is straightened, the damaged journal repaired and all journals reground ten thou under. I'm trying to put the crank back and I'm sceptical about the...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

I've had some bad news from the machine shop. The crank is bent and they're going to have to go to at least 30 thou under-size on the mains to get everything aligned. I'm just wondering whether...

Re: Crank Regrind

Hi

Last night I removed the crank. #1 rod bearing is a mess and so is the journal. The rest are in very good condition with no signs of wear and the mains are in good shape as well. I'm about...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

I thought I'd report back that this worked. Also, despite the corrosion, the crossover has cleaned up reasonably well.

Cam holding tool OTC 6498

Does anyone know the dimensions to make a home-made cam holding tool. I don't want to pay $150 and then wait wait two weeks for delivery to the UK for something that looks pretty simple. Has anyone...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

I'm hoping not. I've encountered a lot of corrosion doing this job, but so far it's all been on the surface. Once I've cleaned off the loose stuff and chemically arrested the corrosion, the...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

Thanks.

Good to know. 14 years of NY and UK corrosion have done them no favours. I might try to clamp something on that I can use a pry-bar against. They're going to get stripped and...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on crossover coolant pipes

Hi. The engine is now out and I'm starting to dismantle it. Can anyone give advice on removing the crossover coolant pipes and the heater pipe that runs in the vee to the back of the water pump. ...

Re: Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

Thanks. Alternator is out following some jiggling and rotation, and terminal cover is now slid up using a bit more force. Your memory is good.

I'm still looking for advice on lifting the engine,...

Re: Hesitation at cruising speed

I had this problem and it was a faulty coil pack. I didn't have the time to replace them one by one to identify the culprit, so I changed them all and that fixed it. They were ridiculous money from...

Removing Engine - Need advice on alternator and wiring harness

Hi. I'm removing the engine from my Mach and am a bit stuck in a couple of areas:

1) Looking on the forum, the recommendation for lifting points is the bell-housing and the alternator mounts. I...

99-01 32v 320bhp motor. Is it the same as the Mach 1 motor?

Hi.

My Mach 1 and I are in the UK, so most of the options open to you guys are not practical for me. My motor has a big-end bearing failure (oil starvation, my fault) and I'm about to pull the...

Re: Who still has the original battery in there Mach1

Just found this thread whilst looking for specs for a new battery. Mine lasted 12.5 yrs and 80,000 miles. Best battery I've ever had.

Lifter swap. What parts will I need.

I'm about to take my 04 Mach 1 back to the UK for the second time but I have a problem. My local speed shop has diagnosed that one or two lifters in the front of the driver's side head need to be...

Want OEM Exhaust System

Hi guys

Does anybody have the stock exhaust laying around after they fitted an aftermarket system. If so, I'm interested. I'm near Albany in NY, but would consider shipping.

Regards

New coil packs fix low rev hesitation/misfire

Hi guys. I just thought I'd log my experience fixing a low rev hesitation on my 60,000 mile Mach 1.

My problem was that the car developed a hesitation under load between 1000 and 2000 rpm....
