Long Distance Driving on Drag Wheels

I will be driving 1.5 to 2 hours to the drag strip, then another 1.5 to 2 hours home (90% highway - 1,000 to 2,000 miles per year). I am looking for drag wheels that can handle long distance driving...

Struggling with an automotive decision...

Interesting automotive decision to make. Keep in mind, the goal is to run in the 11's in a N/A form.

I currently have an 03, 5 speed mach 1 with 27,000 miles on it. I owe approx. $5k on the car....

Re: HELP!!! Slight grinding going into 3rd!!!

I have the same issue, except it only occurs at wide open throttle and when I am shifting above 6000 rpms.

I too have the upgraded clutch cable, firewall adjuster and quadrant and for about 1000...

Re: Got about $1k to spend at FRPP, what to get?

Back on track...

Besides the $1000, save up an additional $200 - $400 for the FR 500 cams and springs kit.

Re: Whipple or Max N/A? Still trying to decide...

I agree with a power adder and a built short block. Pick your poison...

Whipple or Kenne Bell
Procharger or Vortech

Re: Made a huge mistake today.

First, sleep on this decision for a few days. If you still like the 427 and can financially swing it, then test drive it one more time.

What is the price comparison between the 427 and a C6 vette?...

Re: oil on spark plug thread

The rubber boot of the ignition coil was dry (clean).

On the dyno or at the track, very little to no smoke out of the tail pipe (the very little is not blue smoke)....

oil on spark plug thread

Oh, one heck of a month with the Mach 1. So, while assessing the current "bucking" issues (http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?t=65438), we pulled off the ignition coils and spark...

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

I understand. Since the issue is inconsistent, we would probably have to wait for the issue to get worse before it would show up on a scope, or is there another way to test the coils to isolate which...

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

What draws you to thinking a coil is bad?
If a coil, how can we tell which one is bad (can only a dealership verify)? Via visual inspection, they all looked good.

The Mass Air Meter is stock....

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

Ran the car at the drag strip and almost every run was a train wreck. This gremlin (bucking) issue still remains as if when you shift the 4th, the car acts as if you shifted to 2nd, when in all...

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

I wanted to wait until tonight (Friday) as the tuner/I just finished working on the tune.

I was out near Elburn and we headed the car East on a country road. Two runs, from 2nd into 4th. No...

An update, the plugs have about 7000 miles on them.

The tuner and I are going to drive the car around at night later this week with the wide band, data logger, etc., hooked up.

Initial...

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

My fuel line has the same pinch and/or crease in the same location.... I will have that looked at and change the fuel filter as there is 10,000 miles on it... However, whether a dirty fuel filter...

Re: Inconsistent bucking when entering 4th under full load (WOT)

I talked with the tuner and the car is going back some time this week. The tune was 12.8 and the timing 28 degrees.

The fuel filter was changed about 10,000 miles ago and only shell/amoco has been...
