Test Drove a Mach today...owners come in

So, I test drove a mach today. 117k miles, whole host of mods...just about everything bolt on you could think of. But the odd thing was, it was shaking a lot while i was driving and that concerned me. it felt almost like a hub bearing was going out or maybe a motor mount was loose...but it did it when i cranked it and usually starting off in first gear. I had an '03 GT with vortech blower before and don't ever remember anything like this. The only thing i can think is that maybe the braces over the intake and in the trunk were transferring the torque from the motor a lot more than i'm used to feeling. Is this normal or was there something wrong? It's a steal of a deal and I don't want to let it get away if this is not an issue.

If I read your post correctly it the car was shaking all the time. Is that correct?

I didn't exactly word that the best. It seemed like once I got up to speed (we'll say 15+ mph), it seemed to settle out.

Is this at a dealer? If not, why doesn't the seller just come clean about it? 117k miles behind the wheel, someone knows what's going on.

Not a dealer. Really nice guy. Said he had already bought other parts (99/01 front bumper, etc) to change the look a little. So, that makes me think he either doesn't know it's problem or it's not a problem. I don't know. Just thought it was strange. He's also the 6th owner...which made me a little more nervous.

My Mach shook a lot but it also had aftermarket camshafts so that's to be expected.

This one had K&N cai, accufab tb, intake spacer, bbk lt's, bbk x, flows, tri-ax, eibach sportlines, front brace, and rear brace.

Shocks and struts wore out? Why not just ask him why it's shaking? :3:

here's something simple to look for...does it have solid motor mounts?

If the engine was idling smoothly, I'd guess bad engine mount(s). Did you hear any clunking when you got on or off the throttle? Any signs of the shaker hitting the side of the opening?

The other option is he knows the problem and doesn't want to fix it.

Didn't think to look.

I didn't notice any clunking but it was loud as hell. Glasspacks. No signs of the shaker hitting.

Could be.

Thanks everybody for the input. I think i'll pass. I'm not looking for something to buy and immediately have to repair something. I just want to drive it and change fluids and tires every now and then.
