Clutch Recommendation

What clutch would you guys & gals recommend for a slight bolt on car, soon to be p1 in the next month or so on Mach.

3rd throw bearing in 54k miles.

Going to just change out clutch while its down.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

-Mark

Re: Clutch Recommendation

Personally I have used Ram HD, Powergrip, and HDX with good success, but I know a lot of guys run Spec stage 2 that really like them. Whatever you choose, make sure to allow some room for power level growth or you will end up doing double work and paying double money to upgrade again later.

Buying a car that is having throw out bearing issues.

Save some money and get a 03/04 cobra clutch. It should be fine with a p1 down the road too

I got mine from a ford dealership 2 years ago. To me It drives like the stocker but can handle more abuse.

Is the powergrip hard on input shaft?

Had a spec stg 3 on my old 04 gt and it snapped the input shafts in half

That's what I'm considering getting. Promotion Powertrain sells them.

I have a centerforce DFX and personally no complaints here. At first i hated there balance shaft thing because of noise but once it was broken in a little bit its been perfect.

I may try and knock out a few things at once; Clutch, Aluminum F/W and Tubular K member. I'll have to pull the k anyways since the trans won't come out because of the BBK LT's.

Spec 2 here. It holds the power but has annoying chatter. Heard alot of spec users with same complaint. Going with ram or centerforce next.

RAM HDX here and just got through with break in period. I'm happy with it. Slightly stiffer than stock but deff. a daily drive-able clutch. I DD my mach.

The clutch really isn't the determining factor in that. Alot of other things such as power level and tire grip would matter in that case. Any clutch that holds solid on a good launch with a lot of power could possibly snap a stock 10 spline input shaft. Thankfully (knock on wood) I have not broken mine yet and I launch the crap out of my car with MT ET streets.

That Powergrip is a good clutch. Your gonna like it. Won't make your left leg bigger than the right like some clutches do and it holds great.

Seriously considering this for my '72 Maverick Grabber; is the pedal pressure kind or does it wear your left leg out?

Have this in my car and is holding fine with lower pedal pressure than both spec stage 2+ & stock! Much better in traffic and still grabs good

Nowhere near 550... yet!!! I do tend to abuse it with what I do have N/A though! Glad ti not have the chatter the spec stage 2+ had, but would also believe it had more bite to it
