Which car insurance agency to go with?
I am currently with Liberty Mutual. They have been good to me, even tho I have not needed them at all. I am a GOOD driver LOL!!!! Anyways, I'm shopping around for lower rates, do any of you have any good companies to suggest for a quote? I have gotten a quote from 21st Century Insurance so far. I did a BBB check on some of the well-known ones and WILL NEVER go back to Geico!!!!! Suggestions?????

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I use Geico for my daily drivers, and love them.
I use Grundy for my Cobra.....$316 a year.....and BETTER coverage then what I had when I had a premium Geico policy. I insure my car for $25,000 as well. $316 a year. But you have to prove that you have another vehicle and dont rely on it for daily trans. |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
State Farm is cheaper than anyone else for me.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I use Grundy also . 400 a year . 26,000 agreed value.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I might have to check out that Grundy... I don't DD the Mach, so...hmm.
Right now I use USAA and I absolutely love them! |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I am with Hartford. I was with American Family for 34 years. Saved 600.00 a year by switching on 3 cars. Clean record, never filed a claim with AmFam, car or home. Long story on why i switched. I've been very happy with Hartford.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I have Progressive and they have been very good to me.

I would switch if you can.... They do have some requirements that you will have to meet, but nothing extreme. |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
state farm for everything - best rates and great service

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I've been with State Farm ever since I was 16 and on my parents policy. I'm 34 now and I haven't had a single problem with them. Heck, I still have the same agent from when my ex and I moved to Austin in 1998 and I haven't lived there since 2001. I've seen no need to change agents since my current one treats me so well!!! I just handle everything via email, phone, snail mail and fax. I currently pay $110 a month for my Mach 1 (full coverage: $50k/$100k/$25k), a 1993 Ford Ranger(liability only) and renter's insurance. Sure, I could probably find someone a little cheaper, but if the need ever arises for them to pay out, will they give me any problems? To this day State Farm hasn't and that's why I've stayed with them so many years.
Hmm, I just re-read this thread and i'm thinking maybe I need to check out this Grundy insurance. My Mach 1 only gets used on my days off from work, so it might be worth it for me to check it out. |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Another vote for State Farm. I've been with them since 1980 and have had very good service from them (although service can vary by agent).

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I am in the process of suing State Farm....
LOL |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
State farm is great for me.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Dang, I put value worth $20,000 on my mach, modified with the mileage she has at 18,500 and got a quote of $310 a year, that's pretty darn good. So with this insurance, is it like a regular insurance to where you can make claims etc if something happens, or is it only for part time use?

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
The thing I don't like about that collector car insurance is that you can't drive it whenever you want. I drive mine to work, run errands, last year I did a 4,000 mile roadtrip. I don't like someone telling me when I can and can't drive it.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I checked out the faq's and it said that the mileage is unlimited....

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
how does grundy work. i read about a daily driver policy, guys with it could you give us a little more info?
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Read the fine print CAREFULLY with collector car insurance. You may not be as covered as you think. We were going to put collector car insurance on our '66, but if we happen to drive it to the store or to my daughter's school (among other places), it wouldn't be covered if it was damaged. Instead we went with a more traditional policy and worked with our agent to get the correct coverage.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Nikbait, why would you not use Geico?
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I LEFT Geico because they were charging me too much. Plus I just didn't feel like I was getting good customer service when I wanted to change things.

I actually just made a claim with Geico on June 06 ,2008....and I was assured my policy premium would not go up. And it was a big claim. I guess I am lucky. $180 month for full coverage on 2004 SVT Focus, 2005 Kia Sorento, and $316 yr for my 98 Cobra. |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Ok so I'm gonna get quotes from State Farm then :)
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Just received some docs from Grundy and it states no racing or timed event participation is permited. :12: Not that it's any different from any other insurance I've ever had!
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
No go with geico, they want WAYYY too much. Still going to try a quote state farm.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I switched from Nationwide to Allstate and am saving $1000 a year! (2 cars full coverage - 2003 Mach 1 and 2008 Cobalt) Allstate has been great so far. But I'm also 26... female and have NEVER had a ticket or filed a claim *knocks on wood* lol
GL with the insurance search! |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I remember back in 1993 when I was 27 I bought my brand new '93GT. I called around and Allstate was one company I called for a quote. They wanted $900 every 6 months just for my Mustang!!! Every since then I laugh whenever I see their commercials.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
Dang thats funny... cause I have 2 cars full coverage and they only charge me $700 every 6 months... HUGE difference from the $1200 Nationwide was charging me every 6 months with a CLEAN driving record.
|
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
another vote for state farm.....

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
My quote from Geico was over 200 more than what I'm paying for a 6 month premium with Liberty Mutual. That's ridiculous. I have a perfect driving record, no accidents nor any tickets....stupid.

I have State Farm but I pay $160/month for just one car, the Mach... I think that's a lil high :wow: For no tickets EVERRRR. Completely clean record. Maybe it's the 20 year old girl part that's hurting me...lol

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I've got Metlife and I pay 200.00 a month for full coverage on my 03 Mach and 06 kia sedona and liabilty on my 94 Camry.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
i was with farmers from the time that i turned 16 till about a month ago or so. i just got married and i went from payin 330 a month for the mach as a dd with full coverage to now payin 125 a month for the mach same coverage. getting married will definatly drop you ins. not sayin you should go and get married to get cheaper ins. but just so you know made a huge difference for both of ours. farmers was really great for customer service and when i did have a accident they took care of everything. had to argue with them a lil bit but they paid it off.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I like the response of being married... Don't use that technique - The Big D cost a life time of - Pain, Heart-acke, and Wealth... JK about don't do it - but just giving the cost on the end product, all to often.
Me - 04 Mach, 07 Sante Fe (great SUV) full coverage, 99 Tarus Liability total yearly $1092.00... :worship: There is some benefits being 50's, Youth has it's benefits and Liabilities! :3amin: Naa-V-Doc |
Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?
I have allstate and love them (a little biased since I work for them). Some things no one is talking about when comparing rates is the coverages and the deductibles. That can make a big impact on what you pay per 6 months. So when people tell you they pay 335 per 6 months that means nothing because you don't know enough information about their coverages to say if that is a good price.
One thing to make sure when buying insurance is you are given sufficient coverages in the event of a loss and deductibles you can afford to pay. Please don't just shop for price when you sacrifice customer service and repair service too. To give you an example I was hit by an insured, in an old beater of mine, who has a carrier that is not Allstate. I went through their claim process and they tried to nickle and dime me out of any little repair they could. It was the worst experience I have ever had. If you guys have insurance questions you can let me know. I am licensed in VA, MD, and DC, but the general premise is the same in most states. |
