Re: Official Procharger HP/TQ/mods thread:

Hey guys, I've got an automatic '03 mach with a transgo shift kit, and I'm considering a procharger. I don't have the cash to build the motor, and I want to keep it capable of being a DD. I'm seeing that a P1sc with about 8 lbs of boost with a 4.15 pulley would be the best bet, but should I do anything with the automatic tranny, especially with the shift kit? I'm not looking to get crazy or even go over 450 rwhp, just embarrass some ricer kids in town and put down some solid 1/4 times. I know I'd have to upgrade the fuel system with 42 lb injectors and pumps, but beside that what should I to do for the intake? MAF or MAFia? Also, I have an SCT 4-bank chip. This should hold the tune. So, I know this is not really the best place to post this, but this thread is learned in this area. Lastly, how much would all this cost me about with labor? I appreciate any input.

Start a new thread asking this question so you don't clutter this one up.

blumnday99, what is your compression? And what octane?

Anyone else feel like these pieces of info should be added to the standard format?

Got a retune 3 weeks ago.

Stock bottom end: Yes

Head Unit: P1SC, 4.00 Pulley, 10 lbs of boost

Fuel: 42 lb injectors, KB Boost a pump, SVT Focus pump

Pump gas tune: 485 rwhp, 450 tq.

Race Gas tune (100 octane): 491 rwhp, 460 rwtq.

Tim said the biggest advantage to the race gas tune is that it does not pull timing. So power does not drop off at all.

Going strong now 2 years on stock longblock.

Re: Official Procharger HP/TQ/mods thread:

Is everyone use 42lb injectors cause they come with the kit or do you get the tuner kit an pick your own fuel setup?

jsingletary 11-07-2009 06:30 PM

Re: Official Procharger HP/TQ/mods thread:

It's usually better to get the tuner kit, and pick the injectors yourself. Room to grow with your component choices is somthing I like. Rather than buying things 2 and 3 times as you keep adding more power.

60# injectors should be enough for most power levels. Don't buy any smaller, otherwise you can end up buying injectors 2 and 3 times. I've had 42#, 55#, 60#, and now 72#. As far as the fuel system, buy a complete hat and line upgrade kit. You will have less headaches and only spend the labor money one time for the install.

Get ready to buy stock in Gates !
(meaning the company that makes the belts)

Re: Official Procharger HP/TQ/mods thread:

I've been using a Gates Fleetrunner belt. It's for big rig diesel trucks that tear up belts often. It's supposed to last for 100k under extreme use. If I can get 1 year of of it, I'm doing well. I've had one on the car for 4 weeks now and it works as well as my last Gatorback belt.

I was using the Gatorback , i was also using the the RR AC delete set-up . It was aligned perfectly . It was so tight that it was cutting the ribs . I run 23 psi , and under that load during shifting at WOT the belt has the chance to loosen up and when that happens is where the problem lies . I was lucky to get two runs out of it . Now when i went auto it lasted usually about 6 runs .
But even with the 8 rib and the RR AC delete kit anything over 18 psi causes friction , belt slip and wear and tear !
