Highest Mileage Mach 1

Who has the most miles on an 03/04 Mach 1? I notice alot of us have really low miles (I only have 30k on my 03) and wanted to see if anyone was using them as a daily driver and if so how they hold up. I remember the old 5.0's going well into the 200k's with no problems. How does our motor stand the test of time?

I have 105,432 right now

no troubles. still strong... about to procharge it since it is nearly paid off

I drive just to drive it. At least one cruise every single day (except when I am working cause I work 12 hour shifts)

Dang thats a load of miles . The Procharger is defenitely going to shorten its life .

You know you will be running her hard with all that new power . :23:

**** that is impressive amount of miles.

Linumup- I grew up just north of you in Bel Air. I moved out back in 88 when I joined the Navy. The place sure has changed over the past 20 years.

I am going to do a compression/leakdown test first just to see if she is really ok. Any other test to check it out?

I have some concern adding boost to a motor with that many miles. I am also looking at a little bit more of an investment. Rather than spending 7k of the procharger install, for 11k, I could drop an aluminator with a roots blower. Then she would be all new.

didn't mean to hijack

Coming up on 83,000 miles.

Problems I've had:

A/C Compressor blew - fixed under warranty
6-CD changer died, replaced with new one
Bent right rear axle - Replaced cheap
Currently: Throw-Out bearing is ready to die

So, for the amount of crap I've put my car through, it's holding up nicely. I'm impressed.

105k miles is a lot to you? Or is it just because it's a mach that has been driven that much that surprises you? I have seen 2v GT's go 200k miles. Do the 4v's just not stand up as long or what?

That is what I am trying to find out. I believe that our engines are built pretty tough and should hold up at least as well as the 5.0 and 2V 4.6.

No Worries....
My Mach has been my daily driver for a few years now. I am coming up on 120,000 miles and the engine is still as strong as ever. I can't say the same about the transmission though....Lol... of course that may be an isolated incident :)

At 104k right now, just basic stuff needed replacement. Clutch/TOB, Alternator, and brakes and oil changes, etc.

Car still runs great. I love it.

twice as many valves, twice as many cams, twice as many chains, and more horsepower, it wont last as long, but think about an old 289 hi po with solid lifters.. you would be lucky to get 50k out of them.. and have to adjust the valves every other month.. and get the same amount of HP

29,xxx.......would be more but live in a state where you can only drive the mach 4-6 months.lol

Re: Highest Mileage Mach 1

83k+ of very hard driven miles. New trans, but that was driver error when I let someone drive it.. Other then that the ONLY thing I've changed is oil & plugs. (and whatever mods)
