I don’t know that there would be any benefit. It should keep the intake cooler and cooler air = more power.

I'd like to get one of the head to intake spacers if you sell them...

Wouldn't the increased runner length move the power band down a little, too?

That spacer looks pretty sweet. I'm in the market for getting an intake spacer now, so definitely keep us updated as to when these become available. I'll buy one as soon as you can start sending them out.

Roy,

Do you know offhand how much longer bolts I'll need for the TB to intake spacer? Thanks.

The runner length doesn't change when adding an intake lid spacer.

When you install an upper/lower intake spacer, the upper plenum volume increases...

I was referring to his intake spacer - between the intake and heads. :)

That spacer was for a plate nitrous system I was working on.

These bolts are 40mm. 35mm would work fine. Here's some pic's of the phenolic stuff.

This sounds like a good idea but I dont think there will be any benefits over the aluminum spacers. The Idea behind a phenolic type spacer on carbureted car was to prevent the carb from absorbing heat from the intake manifold, keeping the fuel cool.On our cars the fuel rails are attached to the intake runners negating this affect IMO.

May not have as much as a affect, but IMO the more of the intake cooler the better. Some one should put a thermometer on the upper after 20 min of driving before the intall and then do the same after the install.

Stuff looks awesome as always roy

Their also used a lot between the upper and lower on the EFI 5.0L push rod motors. If there’s a benefit there this will be similar. I think it would help more on super charged motors where the inlet temps are higher.

If a/f is fine now, how much of a possibility is there of going lean after adding an intake spacer? :gears:

Thanks for the spacer Roy! I noticed while installing it tonight that the phenolic spacer is close to 9mm tall while the php spacer is 6mm tall. I wonder how much the extra 3mm height will help along with any cooling effect it might have?

I guess you could say it’s a 1/2'' spacer if you include the additional gasket.

****, how did I miss this tread. I just ordered my spacer from ya, wish I would have seen this. You should post this down in the sale items too!

Roy,

Received the TB spacer. I'll be working out of town of and on for the next three weeks but I'll report back on the results as soon as it's installed. Thanks again.

I put one on my car and it looks like you will have to bend the throttle cable bracket slightly. The throttle cable is long enough but the cruse control cable is about 1/8'' short.

OK, that's easy enough

Re: Phenolic Intake Spacers Are Here

Took the car out this morning and got on the hwy for a bit to test the spacer. I really didn't notice any more low end tq over the php spacer but it did feel a bit better on the hwy and in the upper rpms. I pulled in my garage and popped the hood and found the upper lid and tb cold to the touch. Ps. for any one doing this they might want to lower the shaker bracket a bit as this spacer tends to be a bit higher than the php spacer.
