AFS mach rims in 18's or 17's ???
 

okay iam looking into getting the AFS mach rims. but some people are telling me to get them in 18's and others say 17's. i like both but my plan was to get 17's but i want to hear peoples oppinions that have the rims and what they think of them and if they would of got them in 18's or 17's.

18's just look **** sexy :yes: I've been tempted to get the 18 inch AFS with black inserts to switch it up.

IMO if you go with the 17's your not changing the wheel look that much.
For me I like a drastic change, but thats just me, thats why this spring I will be ordering some 18x9/10 Black Fr500s with the polished lip.

For some of us, it's not so much about change, as it is about enhancement. Good luck with those FR500's, couldn't get rid of mine fast enough. I liked the look, but they were a PITA to keep clean.

well i really do like the 17's but if there were some pics of a AB mach with 18's that would be awsome so i could how they would look.

I had emailed AFS about getting a set of 18's with the black inserts and they gave me some run around story, but it sounded like they were going to start making them again. So who knows. If I could get a set of deep dish 18x9/10 DD Mach wheels with the black inserts I would get those before the fr500's I was planning on.

AFS does have the 18's with black inserts they aren't deep dish though, web site says they are in stock.

I have had the 18's on my black mach and the deep dish 17's on my AB mach and I loved both, it would be hard for me to decide between the 2.

I have stockers in front and 17x9's out back, my ultimate plan is to move the 17x9's up front and get 18x10.5's for the back...

When viewed side by side visually it looks like a huge difference. I think part of that though is 1) the deep dish kinda overtakes the actual wheel and makes it appear not very tall and 2) the black inserts kinda exaggerate the height of the spokes. Personally I vote 18's, unless you need to fit a 315 tire. A 255/18 or 265/18 and a 285/18 seem to fit new edges pretty good.

I think the AFS wheels look best in 17's. There are a lot of other 18's that look hot but not in the factory Mach wheel.

Did you have any problem with the 18" fitting your Mach? I read on the AFS website that they only fit 2005-2013.

Plus less weight (normally) and wear/tear on suspension parts...

yep totally agree.. however, with that being said, if AFS did in fact make some 18x10 deep dish mach's id be pressed to say the 17's were still better... me personally i love the afs mach 1's... if the machs stance is perfect the 17's sometimes could be mistaken for 18's if the person wasnt familiar with the afs wheel. I think the AB mach above is so sweet.. Im such a huge fan of AFS im confident to say they are the best option for our machs in 17's

Going to blow my own horn here and say the 18s look far better than the 17s (see pic). If you're not putting down a lot of power, a 285-xx-18 can be mounted to the 18X9s in the rear and provide plenty of grip. I just feel like our body style mustang flows so much better with 18s.

I've been a fan of the 17's for a while but man you make me want to change my mind. The car looks awesome.

Thanks, man! Is it cause I'm right? Haha just kidding. I've seen plenty of fantastic looking GTs, Mach 1s, and Cobras rolling 17s.

I went with 17's for many reasons:


-Deep dish
-Can fit 315's
-Cheaper tires
-Less weight
-No rubbing if your lowered

The less weight thing always comes up, but I guarantee it's a negligible point.

Just once I'd like to see the usual 275/9x17 and 315/10.5x17 weighed vs 265/9x18 and 285/10x18.

18" fills up the wheel well better. 17 incher looks too small from the factory, to my opinion

I would also like to see this, I want 18"s but I don't want my car to be weighed down.
