I doubt anyone will reach the rpm it takes to bring on float with 5w30 though. I think around 7000rpms. Just use what Ford recommends to be safe. Btw, no problems using 0w20 here. Same protection on these close tolerance engines. It's not like the old days. Besides, on startup, I want oil to get to every part of engine as quickly as possible to prevent wear, which in turn, will increase tolerances.

Man, I just changed to Royal Purple 5W-30 recently. I finally gave in to so many that said 5W-20 was specifically for meeting C.A.F.E. Then I read this thread about cam journal lubrication. Good grief! Now in questioning my decision again. I wish there was something definitive to make up my GD mind! I'm gonna have my Mach for the rest of my driving years. She's got 45,300 miles. Anybody got any definitive answer with some data or article to back it up?

My MACH has over 67K mi. and all I ever used was 5W-30 syn. mainly amsoil since 5k mi. The only sound under the hood is the howling from the filter when the engine is running. I'll stay with it until my MACH 1 say otherwise.

I have 130,000 miles and at early life ran conventional every 3,000 miles and MUCH later switched to syn..but thru the years has ALWAYS been 5w-20 with no "blown" issues now.

I ran 5w-30 for the summer last year and have since switched back to 5w-20. I feel like I've done the right thing. Really though, I was only worried about the track visits and going up to redline in the heat of the summer. I've always used full synthetic, so I feel okay about switching back.

So really, it doesn't seems to matter what oil or weight. everyone has the same car, (depending if your blown or not) and use 5-20 to 5-30, RP to Mobil, to Amsoil. im still interested though, so ive noticed 0-20 still out there. unless its been years since they got rid of it and brought back. so whats the situation now with 0-20. and what ARE you guys really suggesting for motor oil and filters for the Mach?

I use Brad Penn..
But the local engine builder strongly believes oil is oil and brand is personal pref....
Make sure the level is good and use what weight you want.
rev it to 7000 all the time and enjoy it!

I switched back to RP 5W-30 in 2015 because I don't daily her anymore and seem to run it harder when I do drive her lol. I figure with 4 or 5 visits to the track per season, 5W-30 makes more sense. Plus, being that the 99-01 Cobra's called for 5W-30, I believe it all boils down to CAFE standards.

I have done 2 oil changes on my mach since I got it and I have never poured such a thin oil in a performance motor.

The last one I did i switched back to 5w20 dino oil from ford.

What about 5w30 ??? anybody using it?

I'm sticking with 5x20 synthetic......works good

I think Mobil stopped making that, right?

In the "Nobody else cares category.." I was thinking of trying out Amsoil, but I see that Amazon caries Royal Purple HPS 5w-30, so I'm pretty sure I'm going with that here soon. They do not carry that in stores near me locally. #everyonerollseyes

From what I have read through the years on the registry, I believe it is no longer made.

Lol, how come everyone on the web hates it so much? I can't imagine it's any worse than Mobil 1 or or any of the other big name full synthetics out there.

It may not be any worse, but it's way over priced IMO. I tried it before and saw no changes that made it worth the price to me. I run Motorcraft in all 3 of my vehicles.

Something that might be worth looking into is the Supertech carried by Wal-Mart. Someone a little smarter than I am did some research and found Supertech to have all the same qualities as other synthetic oils. For a few bucks less.

I wanna say they got bought out and stuff started changing, not for the better. ive had issues with some of their other products (especially the ATF). I dont see any justification for their top tier price

That definitely sounds worth looking into. I'd like to run synthetic in all my cars, but the cost keeps me from doing it.

I spent a few hours searching and aside from sending a sample out to Blackstone and proving it's worth myself, I'm going to have to avoid Royal Purple. Call it peer pressure, I suppose lol. I've been too chicken to switch to a yearly oil change with it (or Mobil 1), even though I'm around 5k or less miles per year in the Mach. I've been wanting to try Amsoil anyway, and I'd have to wait for Royal Purple HPS, so now is as good of a time as any.

Re: Important Information About Mobile 1 Synthetic Motor Oil For Mach 1's

Ive used Mobil 1 5w20 since day one 6qrts, changed every 6 months since i hardly drive it (2k-5k/per yr). All i can say is that im satisfied with it. Call it luck or credit the oil but ive had two money shifts ( switching from 3rd to 2nd at WOT ). and everything is still fine and dandy, still runs like a beast even with the boost. surprised tranny still shifts perfect as well. *Knock on wood*
