Reintroduction
Howdy gents (and ladies?), I've been a member since I bought my mach back in 2007, but rarely posted. I wasn't really modifying it since it was still under the ESP. It had 19,000 on it when I bought it, and it's now at 122,000 miles
I bought my ZY Mach from the original owner, who had purchased 2, one automatic and my 5 spd. He had removed the intake silencer, added an intake spacer, sequential tail lights, and a SLP loudmouth exhaust. Since I've owned it, it's dropped two engines. One from a rod letting go and one from ford missing sealing something on the second one. Third has been in for about 65,000 and still runs like a champ. I added a steeda tri-ax shifter and recently an SCT x4 tuner. It has seen one tiny accident. I backed into the corner of my buddy's jeep bumper, denying my bumper pretty good and mashing the tail light. It's seen many dirt roads (gasp!). Still my daily driver, getting 23mpg. Ive got a couple tweaks to work out, so I'm sure I'll find what I need here. |
Re: Reintroduction
Awesome you got it back.

Re: Reintroduction
Well shoot, I just got back on here, and last night I pretty much totalled the mach. Not my fault, other party was making an illegal u turn on a 2 lane highway. We were both able to walk away, and no one went to the hospital. Was doing 65 When I t-boned his grand marquis. It even put a wrinkle in my roof above the passenger door, which doesn't close anymore

Re: Reintroduction
Sorry to see that
Glad you are ok though. Sad day for sure |
Re: Reintroduction
Very sad day indeed. If they total it, which I'm sure they will, I'll definitely be buying it back. I'll pull everything i can salvage from it. The shaker will either go on my 85 bronco or a 78 f150. The engine's a keeper too, as it had about 60k miles on it. Or maybe I'll swap the 4.6 into an old fox body. Who knows. I'll stay in touch as I'm sure I'll have some parts people may need.

Re: Reintroduction
**** that sucks!
Sorry to see the damage, but glad you did not get hurt. |
Re: Reintroduction
Yeah, it makes me sick to see it sitting crushed in the driveway. After I lost my 94 bronco (first vehicle, bought in 02) in a huge shop fire not quite three years ago, the mustang was my baby. I had zero intentions of selling it, ever. But just like the ol blue bronco, life happens, and we must move on.
The hood will get hung in the new shop, and the badges will get put on my toolbox or something. I'm also having visions of a 78 Mach150 pickup dance in my head. Right now its seafoam green, with a 351m and 4x4 np435 4spd, and covered in lichens and some rust. |

Also the photos you posted are of an 04 Screaming Yellow?? |
Re: Reintroduction
The glove box sticker says I believe 7/17/03.i don't know the actual build date. It is an 03 ZY, with 40th anniversary badges added by the original owner because he liked the look of them better. It was delivered to Laird Noller Ford, here in Topeka, on 8/23.

Re: Reintroduction
The 40th Badge is exactly what caught my eye and why I questioned the year. Sorry about the accident, that really sucks. I'll be watching to see if its totaled what ZY items might be for sale.
What is your vin, I can get you your build date. Does your vin start of 1FAFP42R23F?? The last 6 is the order sequence... Message me if you don't want to write it here. I purchased mine in Bordentown, NJ on August 18, 2003, traded it in on August 19, 2010. |
Re: Reintroduction
Good eye with the emblems.
I'll post the VIN here in a couple hours when I get home. If totalled, I'll be keeping the engine, trans, scoop, hood (damaged anyway), badges, and front seats. All else will be pretty much useless to me, and will get sold, with or without the car. |

Re: Reintroduction
Finally got the police report, and contact with the other drivers insurance. He is 70 years of age and had a class A license with CDL.
The adjuster has not seen the car yet. I however, just gave it a quick once over and oh my golly gee. The damage is far far worse than I originally found. I had to pry the hood open, and it wont close again. The factory subframe connector is 3 inches from the body. The floor under the passenger seat buckled the size of half a basketball. The firewall has a 90° budge behind the passenger valve cover, and has ripped and torn from the door frame area. The passenger foot well area of the firewall is mashed in tremendously. Theres parts of the body around the a-pillar that i dont even have a name for with damage. There is half an inch between the passenger valve cover and the fender. Bent a.c. lines everywhere. The radiator overflow is fubar, but the actual radiator is leak free. The front sway bar got pulled 2" to the passenger side, by the wheel, which is basically in the firewall. Other front tire is perfectly straight. Its a disaster. I'm almost positive it'll be totalled. I wouldn't want to drive it rebuilt, as it could never be straight again. |

Re: Reintroduction
Well, the adjuster came yesterday. It's a total loss. They valued my car at around 8800. To keep the car, which I'm doing, they are paying me $8011. Not a bad deal in my eyes at all. Ill be posting a part out thread in a couple days. Prices will be reasonable for all you mach1 registry guys. Ill ship anything, but not on my dime.
