Winterize a motorcycle?
 

I know there's other sites out there but I value everyone's advice on here more so than others. That being said, I bought my bike brand new in April and its getting time to winterize it. What would someone do for winterizing? Its going to be stored in a shed and it does get cold inside. Not nearly as cold as it would be outside. But that shed is too far from any electrical outlets.

Easy solution. Ship it to me! I live in a mild climate. I promise to excercise
it regularly! Really I promise!!! I will return it when spring arrives for you.

Just a suggestion. Besides mustangs I really love motorcycles.

I have left my supermoto out during below freezing temperatures and it was fine. Before I got a house I had it outside all year for 5 years, no battery tender or anything. And its still running strong on the original battery.

The only thing I would do is make sure you have good coolant. And if you don't want to start it every once in a while I would pull the battery out and put it on a tender, or charge it once a month. I usually just start my bike once every other week and let it run for 10-20 minutes.

take battery out and put it on a tender changer. I did mine and got 10 years out of my battery.

I just unhook my battery and run the gas out of it. put it up on the stand for the winter. that's about all I do.

1. I always put a battery tender on all batteries that are not used, since you do not have electrical outlets, bring the battery inside.

2. Next time you fill up the tank, add some fuel additive in it for storage, this will make sure you fuel does not go completely bad. I had great luck doing this and never had gum up issues.

3. Make sure your coolant is the correct mixture for the environment it will be stored in.

4. Start it up every 3 weeks or so.

5. I also put it on a bike stand so the tires do not get a flat spot.

I was gonna leave it in there and start it up every week to two weeks. Depending on the temp maybe ride it around a few blocks. Think that'll be good?

Do you drain the gas out first? I heard some people do that. But should I pour the stabilizer directly into the tank? I actually believe my tank is relatively full, if not close to it.

I'll have to get that checked out.

The problem is I dont have a lot of space and funds are a little tight to be purchasing bike stands. I was going to get at least a rear one to clean up and lube the chain. If I move it out from time to time, the wheels should be good, right?

What kind of stands does everyone here use?

If you have a full tank, just put the additive in there and drive it around, it will mix.
that should be fine. I think I picked up my stand at harbor freight, it was cheap, less than 100. I think I picked up one of those 40% coupons, they are common.

Yea I saw that one at harbor freight. Decently priced. Even found some on amazon the Venom stands. It like $60+ plus shipping for the front and rear.
