In 03 I went to the dealer to look at a 01 Cobra on the used lot but drove my 03 Mach 1 home instead. It has a few minor mods now. lol. I'm not much of an internet person this is about the only forum I go on.

I too joined the same month my Mach 1 came into my life. Over the years met many great Mach 1 owners, and always fun to meet up at events.

PS- this is STILL one of the best, most helpful, well ran, unbiased, and enjoyable car forums on the internet. Even though my 03 is gone (69 isn't ever going anywhere)... I'll always visit this site from time to time. Too many good memories and fun folks.

Wow, 4 years since my last post! I have always lurked around, not much of a poster. Signed on just days after Dave went live in '02. Lots of projects keeping me busy. Beginning a 69 Mach CJ project with my 14yr old son this year for his driver. This one I kept when I sold the last project 12 yrs ago to get the 03. I haven't enjoyed my Mach as much as I would like with just 7k miles, but enjoy sharing the experiences with my son. This is the best place for Mach 1 enthusiasts !

I still own the mach 1 after buying it new 10/9/03 and have had a lot of fun with it. Joined here around that time too. I had 58k in 2008 on that "race car" that my ex wife said I was building. LOL Now 63k, so I don't drive it much but still keep it serviced. Needs new battery. Just bought a new noah cover for it. For sale if the price is right. :notsure:

Re: Back in the day members

I first came looking/lurking here in Dec 2002 when I first became interested in the re-introduced '03 Mach 1. Didn't figured I'd be able to get one as initially production was going to be limited to 5000, 6500, or 7500 units. Fortunately for me the numbers kept climbing and I got one of the later ones. I didn't actually join the MR1 until after we bought my Mach 1 in Aug 03. Kept it nearly 8 years as my daily driver putting about 75,000 miles on the odometer. I calculated one time that I put over 15,000 miles of that just going to Carlisle and other Mustang shows on the East Coast. My wife had surprised me with the 2003 when I returned from one of my trips to Iraq. In 2010 she surprised me again with a 2011 Shelby GT-500 and again recently with a 2014 Shelby GT-500. I've always stayed a M1R member and still have a 1970 Mach 1 to enjoy too.

Many of us have gone one to other vehicles but we still come back to be with our old friends on the Mach 1 Registry. ;)

Re: Back in the day members

Joined in September 03, which was about the time I purchased my first Mach. I was 18 and in love with the Mach's but couldnt afford the $30k. When the 04's rolled out my local dealership had three Torch Red, one Azure, one white, and one black Machs on the lot. I think my before trade in price was about $23k. I walked away one happy 18 year old With an 03 TR Mach. In 06 with about 40k on the odometer I lost my mind and traded in my Mach on a new FX4.

Seven years later I found my way back home and purchased another TR 03 Mach with 54k miles. I've been loving it ever since.

Oops you're right, Ron. I meant 2002. Thanks for watching my back (LOL). I was actually born in Waco, Texas at the old James Connally AFB. My Dad flew B-25's out of there in the early 50's. :D

Yeah Waco is also where comedian Steve Martin was born also. Some say we were brothers separated at birth. I say, "Oh? Show me the money". :3b:

By the way, after the Waco siege with David Koresh and his Branch Davidians, the term "WACO" became an acronym for, "We Ain't Coming Out". (LOL)

It was called "Wack O" waaaay back. I used to get in fights as a kid when other kids would say that. Kinda felt like Johnny Cash in his song, "A boy named Sue". Last time I was in Waco was in the mid-70's when I finished up basic training at Lackland AFB, TX and had to take a bus up to Wichita Falls and Sheppard AFB for tech school. We stopped off and had lunch at a Luby's in Waco. I believe it was the one that years later they had the massacre there.

Im still around from time to time, but life pulled me in many directions in
the past 11 years. The Mach still brings a good grin to the face on each drive. Just wish I had more time to get it out. Currently sitting at 4863 miles. On the plus side, its always clean when I do get it out.

I don't get on as much as I would like but I check in from time to time. Have not driven the Mach since Oct 2011 since I pulled the motor for a new build. She is still a garage queen sitting by the Cobra.
Built and waiting to install is a Teksid stroker, Diamond pistons, cast crank, with good cams to support the FR500 intake that I sank lots of money into a few years back. Putting in the original 3650 reworked by Promotion with their blowproof housing. Hoping for just under 500 rwhp. Should be done by summer time.

Hoping to dip well into the 11s with the combo:thumbsup:
