We always cook a turkey at our household. However, I have purchased a spiral ham this year. I'm fixin to put that baby in and glazed her down. I also plan on cooking the ham later! Wink..Wink...Peace.

Re: Turkey or Ham?

We do the traditional meal however I dont like turkey all that much
I would rather a nice eye of the round ..............

I got to be honest Thanksgiving is not my favorite holliday

it works like this

mom has a dinner for myself and my brother and my older brothers family and
5 of her 9 brothers and sisters and there famliys ususaly about 25 people

the house is a 2 storie centerhall that is about 1700 sq

so there is not a hell of allot of room for everyone
dinner is served in what is there parlor which is about 14 x 14 not allot of room for 25 kids and adults to work in so i sometimes will fix my plate and eat in the kitchen I just cant deal with being in a crowd like that and trying to eat.

oh the kids there are now about 5 under the age of 13
my aunt's kids are 13 and 10 boy and girl they mostly behave and I actuly like them
however the two kids hate each other as they should

my uncle's kids 1 son about 9 2 daughters about 5 and 4 and his lovely wife all of her she goes about 225 or so my uncle just lost 45lbs he is down to a good 300 now
there son who is 9 is so obease that he was not allowed to play sports due to health issues he is about 175 lbs his two duaghters arn't so big but have no talbe mannors
they have no concept of taking a small plate of food and eating that rather than standing there feeding there faces and double dipping.

my aunt and uncle and there son well he wont show up this year and has not in the past he is a drunk. 4 time looser with dwi's been to jail ect he is embarssed about screwing up he just wont show my uncle who is a former priest will say a 15 min grace my aunt 5 min into it will tell him AMEN lets eat dammit. I acutlly like them they allway take good care of me

My uncle and his wife and there son well not much to say here but my aunt eats no salt and will ask my mom to cook with out it, well too bad cant cook with out salt
there son is a 27 year old virgin who tries to act tuff and threaten the 13 year old who i think on a good day could kick the older cousins ***

so that is my day in a nutshell or nut house I would rather a nice plate of roast beef my parents and brothers and nieces and sisterinlaw for a nice quite thanksgiving.

oh and then the PC questions come ..........................
at least the mach is put away and I can sneek out into the garage for some alone time with it

I Ain't gonna cook. So I'll buy some bread and butter, turkey, rice w/ pigeon beans, sweet potato w/ mashmallow sauce, potato salad, macarron salad, pumkin pie, cheese cake, 2 big pepsis and one bottle of Drano (just in case the bathroom can't take it).

I like Pacifico beer too. I am not a big fan of Corona, but I do like Dos Equis and Tecate - with sal y limon of course. :33:

I'm not that big on turkey or ham the way it is served on the holidays but I will have one huge plate and then I done for the year. Howerver a ham or turkey sandwich is always great.
Happy thanksgiving all!

Re: Turkey or Ham?

Well, this year I am on shift at the department so its both plus all the fixins, for Thursday. Then on Saturday its the Family Thanksgiving where I do it all over again but with just turkey. We all hope for a slow afternoon after dinner. A few years ago the guys at the station (before my time) were able to have a different slice of desert every hour through the whole day and never had a repeat, then had to find a place to cram the turkey in the afternoon. There will be a LOT of Pain around here tomorrow. ( I am in the middle of a 72 hour shift right now....36 1/2 down....god its going to be a long day!!!

Re: Turkey or Ham?

Turkey for Thanksgiving, with just my wife and kids.

Christmas is the Honey Baked Ham. Christmas morning we wake up and open presents, bake apple and cherry turnovers for breakfast. For lunch we have a veggie tray, cheese/crackers, rolls and the ham. Dinner is leftovers. You eat when you are hungry and do what ever else you want the rest of the day. :yeh:

Lasange is the best. we usually just have turkey. i think we also got ham this year, but lasange is one of my favorite foods

Re: Turkey or Ham?

San Pedro - don't you mean Turkey stuffed tamales? Kind of a reversal of roles, no? LOL, just playing with you. I love tamales, and my wife makes the best lasagne.

We munch all day while the turkey and Ham are cooking. Then eat at around 4pm. And desert a little while after.
