Anyone give any credibility to this?

I hope it’s true.

Re: 2021 Mach1!!!

Since our cars were built on the bones of the '01 Bullitt and there is such being built now, it makes sense that they would repeat history and follow the same trail. But I would like to see a 5.2 CPC under the hood of this one, with a stick. But that's just me.

I am with you, I can't think of buying one. But they need to offer a manual, not everyone wants an auto, quit cramming what you think we want down our throats!

Amen! Would be very hard not to put one in my garage if it was a n/a 5.2 cross plane with a stick, unless they get stupid with the selling price....

I wouldnt hold my breath on that one. There are some very knowledgeable folks in some other places and theyve all called BS on this with no credible source of an upcoming car version of the Mach 1

I’d like to see the option of either transmission like back when they released our Mach1’s
I hope it’s true, but only time will tell.

If Ford hasn't already leaked out any information, then I doubt anything will be coming out in 2021 since it's almost 2020 and the '20's are already out. This has gone on for almost every year for the past 10 years. Only the rich will be able to afford them.

Re: 2021 Mach1!!!

If they do this, and I for one certainly hope Ford does, please use the tremec out of the GT350.

Recon 12-07-2019 09:09 PM

I’d be a very happy person if they bring it back, same goes for the Boss 302. It would awesome if we could get everyone back from the original generation. Or just do what Chrysler did with Ram, make the Mustang its own brand. They’ve already killed off the rest of the cars in their line up, might as well make the last it’s own brand. It certainly has more than enough different models to make it doable.

Pick your poison.

I would consider this one with a non-supercharged GT500 5.2L VA and the DCT. It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be the previously rumored hybrid Mustang also. Back in 2017, that was something shared by Ford when Mark Fields was the CEO. Of course, plans might have changed since his departure.

The powertrain is the thing that will sell me on this car, even if doesn't have a shaker scoop induction set-up, which I believe it might not have.

I have a hard time thinking Ford was developing a hybrid mustang alongside the GT500 that finally launched. To have a hybrid and/or a DCT would take away from both the Shelby and the Mach E which I just don't see them doing. Unless the 350 goes away I dont see a reasonable slot for it. The Bullitt was stupid imho

Both a naturally aspirated 5.2L V8 with a manual and DCT option, or a hybrid 5.0L V8 with manual and 10-speed automatic, would provide the right amount of engine response for the old stoplight-to-stoplight acceleration feel, just like the '03/'04 Mach 1s did. It would depend on the pricing, of course. The GT500 is up there in the price, so I don't think it would steal anything from those sales. People who buy that car want the top dog crazy power car.

The GT350 is a different animal with its engine and price point.

Regarding the Bullitt (I have a 2019, as well as a 2001 and 2009), it actually was quite smart because it's a hoot to drive, sounds great, and it hits the nostalgia buttons for many. It followed the recipe of the other 2 generations - a bit of a step up from the GT in performance with a cool color (you can get black though). In my mind, that car is priced right in the slot that a new Mach 1 would fit.

As much as I love the shaker, if it doesn't have one and that powertrain produces some grunt like our '03/'04 Mach 1s do relative to the GT and Bullitt back in the day, I would go for it.

Given that the 69 through 78 and the 03-04’s had an auto tranny option, it would be really cool if the DCT was an option. Like I said before, I don’t think Ford will do that, but it would be awesome if they did.

You know, even if they went with the coyote, they could still come up with a suitable performance bump to meet the Mach 1 needs. How cool would it be if they used a specific intake and set of heads with cams that have a notable chop as a homage to the 69-70? I’m not sure if they would want to exceed the HP of the GT350, but I would think 515 to 525 would be a good spot.

I love the shaker on mine and certainly on the classic Mach’s, but I think they should not even try to put a shaker on the new body style. It will never look good with a shaker.

Re: 2021 Mach1!!!

along with the DCT possibly stealing some thunder from the GT500 I dont know what Ford's cost is on that tranny but MSRP is north of 20k and seems like it would really hurt the potential price point

Bullitt sales must be a regional/sentimental thing because there are 10 2019s sitting on lots around here. 54 total within 100 miles from me. They haven't moved all year.

They actually are more popular outside of North America. It is my opinion that Ford could have sent more to Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the Netherlands (even most of that volume would be RHD).

If you haven't driven one, it's worth a test drive.

Recon 12-30-2019 08:56 PM

I hope it comes to fruition. I’d like to see it make a return along with the Boss 302. Might as well have the remaining big name nameplates debut on the current generation. They should have enough resources to make the Mach unique and have the power train just as unique. Maybe a CPC 5.2L with 500-515hp? 10 speed or a tremec manual. I’d like that.
I’d also venture to say the Bullitt sales is regional. Our local 2019 Bullitt sold with 9 hours of being in the showroom.

Pick your poison.
