In my opinion that's a lot of money for a book that likely has info. in it that we've known for years.

I just got a copy of The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Mustang for Christmas, which literally has information about every Mustang ever made, and it was like $10 bucks.

Its absolutely a lot of money for either edition. Totally agree!!
But I still have to have it as part of the New Edge Mach1 story in my opinion.
The book does has some of my photo's in it so I am a bit biased on purchasing the book. But that's why I bought 2 of them instead of 1. I have 1 to read & share and 1 to put away of course after they are autographed appropriately.
No compensation needed here. Patiently waiting the release.

Most of those books have so much bad information I look through them for the laughs. Randy Leffingwells first edition of Mustang Fourty Years was so bad, that we had a group discussion on here and I sent him like an eight page email of what needed correcting. His second edition had about half of those incorporated.
This book is being written by true Mustang enthusiasts who want to let you in behind the scenes of a pair of very highly thought of editions. I also know that the lady who lent a very strong hand in it's execution was very involved with a number of high profile pieces, including the two Ford GT books that GT Joey did as well as the SVT Recognition Guide.
Needless to say mine is ordered without hesitation.

Hi, everyone - here's some more information about this book. I apologize for not responding until today. For some reason I wasn't getting the post notifications, and I should have checked in sooner.

First of all, the collector's edition is a version that has a numbered certificate included that is signed by Scott Hoag and will have something that signifies it as a collectible which is exclusive only to those books. I am sworn to secrecy on it!

Regarding the contents of the book itself - yes, you might have heard a number of stories about the development of the Mach 1. The content also includes information that you would not necessarily have found in other Mustang books or magazine articles because they are coming from someone most directly involved from start-to-finish on the development work. There were a number of items I had not heard before when I did the original interviews with Scott, and I was generally someone who asked a lot of questions of him in the years leading up to that time!

I am happy to answer any other detailed questions you might have. Hopefully you had a chance to see a preview of the chapter contents here - http://www.bullittmach1editions.com/media.html

One last thing - this was done mainly to document Mustang history for these fabulous cars. I will never forget my Mach 1 ownership experience, and in some ways, this was a way to make it up to myself for selling it :-)

Thanks again for your interest, and please feel free to post here some more.

Part of the title, by the way, came from a marketing tagline that was from the early days of Scott's company marketing.

What do you think is "weak" about the cover? Not that anything would change at this point, but I am interested in your thoughts.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'm not crazy about the 60/40 split, especially with the bullitt getting the advantage not only in area but the top as well (that part is biased, I admit, but we all know who the top dog is between the two) or the fact that it's two different pictures pasted on top of one another. A real shot with both cars together could've made it nicer, and it doesn't seem like it would've taken a lot to make that happen.

But I bought it for the content, and hopefully it delivers in that respect.

Thanks for the feedback - the photos themselves were arranged in order of model year, and the split was indeed because they were 2 different photos.

One of the things we wanted to see happen in the book was to feature photos taken by the owners of the cars themselves. Those 2 photos were chosen because of the perspectives they offered and the color contrast, but most importantly because they were taken by owners.

That all said, everyone has their thoughts on aesthetics, and I do appreciate your comments. I also appreciate you took the opportunity to purchase this book.

I welcome further questions and dialog.

Tony, just curious how picking up the books will work and make sure I have what I need.
Will we need our receipt to pick up the books?
Can we pick up on Thursday or is that just your setup day?

Eager to get my hands on a copy....Be there in 15 days...

I am not certain what Scott has for the preorder tracking, but I think having the receipt would help. We are both staying at the host hotel for M1R, so you could likely get them there. I believe the inventory will actually get unloaded Friday morning on the show field.

Will get back to you to confirm. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

They should be in the mail in order to arrive on or sometime around June 1, so very soon. Thanks for your question!

Scott, you will be able to pick up yours at the hotel Thursday evening. Actually anyone who is staying the host hotel will able to do that, otherwise, Friday on the show field at our booth near the "Bullitt 50th anniversary" display will be the first day.

I'd want either 13 (regular production series number of my car) or 66 (total production number of my car.
Y'all can fight over the rest...

We will be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday...stop on by the booth, which will be near the Bullitt tent. That is not too far from the larger of Mach 1 sections.
