Long story short
Well I bottomed out on the way to a leaf cruise here in wv.... the exaust clamp on the catalytic converter broke ans and seperated. So to say the least it was loud for the following 5 hour ride, good news the baby slept the whole way. So after the pipe seperated the car became a total dog. In my expierience in the past usually uncapping the exaust generally picked up on performance not fall on its face. So this was kinda puzzeling, i ordered new clamps so it will probably be here in a week, there was no throttle response at all and just didnt have the pull it used too. Set up is stock manifolds bassanni x with cats and magnaflow cat back

Re: Long story short
The 03/04 Machs come from the factory with four catalytic converters. Was it one of the upper cats this happened to? If so, then the poor performance might be related to one of the downstream oxygen sensors getting confused readings as a result. Just a theory I have.

Re: Long story short
I agree the lack of power was due to the 02 sensor not reading correctly.
Howdy from a nearby WV owner! Do you race the Mach 1? There is a track rental at Keystone Raceway Park on the 30th if you're interested. |
Re: Long story short
Unplug the MAF and it will go into open loop/failed MAF. It won't adjust based on the O2 readings anymore and it will drive better. Don't hammer on it though. You can also just unplug the front O2 sensors.

Re: Long story short
It has the bassani x pipe so it has 2 cats just before the x. But it came disconnected behind the cat. That was the weird part.

Re: Long story short
Had that happen to me. it pushed the clamps rearward and both onto the muffler side. I hammered the clamp back in place and put a couple welds on it to hold it in place .
