Not that their is a big choice of muscle cars out there i was just wondering.:yeh:

32 Valve DOHC Motor...That's it...End of my story.

Mikestang 05-15-2004 12:53 AM

I like the shaker hood the one thing that botherd me about the 2k GT i had was the hood

the 32v motor

I also wanted something that would not be as common as a GT.
I also like the herritage aspect A freind had a 69 and that was one nice car.

grimreefer 05-15-2004 12:56 AM

It was love at first sight, needed a cigarette after the test drive. :D

Stainboy 05-15-2004 01:20 AM

A bit of modern tech mixed with vintage muscle car styling. Plus the 'go' factor obviously.

Lonestar 7 05-15-2004 01:46 AM

I am 40 something so I remember the first Mach 1's and I was to young to buy one. This time I had the money and was not going to loose the chance. Plus I think most after first starting the engine and hearing the roar it was a done deal. I also think anyone who tesat drove one would have a hard time not wanting to take that mean machine home.

32 Valve DOHC V8.

FWIW, I much prefer the unpainted heads on the 04 model. Aluminum needs no paint to look cool.

It was the shaker hood that caught my eye and I had heard about the power. I really wasn't in to the Mach 1 "look" at first, that is why I bought a black one, but I like the uniqueness (sp?) and history of the Mach more now than before.

I only test drove one once and I was hooked!!! I had been driving a 93 5.0 LX for 10 years so I know how to handle a sportscar, or at least I thought I did...

I took it easy on the service road and finally had a chance to punch it on the highway. That salesman had a white knuckle ride for a couple of miles. The power really surprised me. It was like "wham!" and we are doing 110 mph.

When we drove in to the dealership parking lot, I had a smile from ear to ear that I could not wipe off of my face. All I heard from my wife was "Oh, no...". That was in Sept. of 2003.

I held back and resisted the urge up through January until I helped my sister negotiate on a '04 GT. I was dying to buy the Mach but I still resisted.

My wife could see my anquish and finally told me "I'm tired of hearing you whin about that Mach... If you really want it, go get it.."

Before she finished that sentence I had already slammed the door behind me and was off to see the sales manager at the dealership.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

It was cheap. And it reminded me of my old 1970 Mach1 (Grabber Blue.)

Because at the time, the 03 Cobras were too high priced, and I thought the Mach would have enough power for me. Turns out I should of waited for the Cobras to come down in price. Guess that's what I get for rushing it. :(

I've been driving Mustangs since 1995. Great cars for the money - Good looking, fast, back seat, trunk, and doesn't break the bank.

I went looking for a new truck for my wife - An Explorer - and saw the Mach. Red one. I knew right there and then I had to have it, even though I had just purchased a new GT nine months prior.

Brought the wife in to buy an Explorer, and took the Mach for a test drive. Just like the GT, but faster, handles better, with killer brakes.

That night while considering buying the Mach we got a nice $6k refund from our new house - money that was held in escrow (we had a new house built from scratch). That settled it right there - we bought both the Explorer and the Mach.

I'm thrilled to death. It's not the fastest, but it's not about speed. I have a bike that will destroy any car. It's about having something special, something different. And it's about having a car where I might make money in the long run - which is why the car sits in the garage most of the time.

We had an 01 GT and loved it. Cheap and easyto mod and work on. (My first Ford ever!) Sold it after moving home from living over seas. Wanted another Mustang but the cost of the Cobra was a bit high and the Mach 1 had what we thought was the best of both worlds except the extra 85hp. But you get what you pay for. We'll probably keep the Mach 1 and hunt down a Cobra in a couple years that way we'll then have the best of both by owning both. I just will have to hunt high and low to find a Comp. Orange Cobra. That's what I really wanted to order in July last year when we bought the Mach 1! Otherwise the Mach is a keeper.

Being 19, I wasn't even alive when the original musclecars were battling it out back in the late 60's/early 70's and if I could've had anything, it would've been to go back in time to those years and order a brand new musclecar and keep it till the day I die. I knew that wasn't going to happen, but once I saw the Mach concept it was love at first sight and I knew I had to have one. It's my brand 'new' musclecar, and I'm keepin it till the day I die. It's living a dream pretty much. :D

This is my 8th Mustang, and I felt my '01 GT was uninspiring. Then I saw the pics from the '02 New York Auto Show of the Mach 1 show car and there was that...shaker. There was no turning back once I'd learned of the better seats, upgraded horsepower, brakes, suspension and interior trim. Not a regret since!

32 V DOHC Motor

Made in America.

My 03 Red fire GT, although a beautiful Mustang, just didn't have the power, that I was accustom to.

The Mustang Cobra was too plain looking.
The Vette is too plain looking. And made by GM.
The TA, although distinctive, did not appeal to me. And made by GM.
Couldn't afford a real Cobra.

The Mach 1 had everything that I was looking for.
It is a Mustang!!!!
It looks good to me, and has the power I need.

Ralph Greene 05-15-2004 10:40 AM

Mainly because I didn't want another supercharged car again.

The Mach is relatively inexpensive, simple to maintain, easy to mod, and has a great engine. I don't mind one bit it's a little out dated in looks and suspension design.

Azure 05-15-2004 10:52 AM

My purchase was not a wise one. I have a 72 Mach and when Ford came out with this car I bought it to match the old one. I allways wanted a new Mustang and now that I can afford it I got it. I din't drive it much so the running joke in the house is that I now have two garage ornaments.
I'm glad Ford used the DOHC engine or I would have passed on the car. Without this engine it's just a dressed up GT like the Bullitt.

FL Mach 1 05-15-2004 11:07 AM

CANXLR8 here (ya know...the wife) - we bought the Mach cause I saw it in a magazine blurb as a "we might build this in the future if there's enough interest". I showed it to Nathan and said if they make it, I want it. I don't even think it had much in the way of possible specs in that little blurb.

I LOVE MY MACH! :D

Couldn't see spending the extra money on a cobra, a plain gt was out of the question and I just couldn't wait for the '05's to come out. Love the style of the Mach's and the feel of the car is out of this world, fast and beautiful. The shaker closed the deal.
If I could afford to have two I would. :worship:

Well ive been a car guy since i talked my mom into buying a big box of assorted car magazines at a garage sale in the early 80's

Hot Rod, Car Craft, Rod N Custom, National Dragster etc.....

my parents both belive that i was born 25 years too late, as i favor blue jeans, white t-shirts, and a black leather jacket, and my favorite color is black primer and flames.

except for a select few cars all my favorites were made before 1975.

id always beena fan of the 5.0, kind of the 69 Camaro or 55Chevy of the new generation, easy to mod, cheap parts, decent build quality etc.

I wanted a classic but as alot of you know, a good one to use as a daily driver doesnt come cheap, so i looked for months for a Notch.

none to be found so i settled on a Dark Green 95 GTS.
i cant stand power accesories:SMASH:

i had already started turning it into a modern interpretation of a 66-70 fastback with the addition of a few goodies, including 17" Torque thrust D's, a vintage Hurst equipped Badge, and other period peices, while inproving the cars performance with shifter, gears, exhast etc... i was even thinking of a carb retrofit.

anyway i digress, im married to a wonderful woman who shares my passion for all things automotive, she had 2 Mustangs and a modded Turbo Daytona when we met, and wanted another stang, so we got a 01GT.

We both went to the Tulsa Ford Show and instantly fell in love with the Mach 1 concept, i was already pissd about them coming out with the Bullit and stealing my idea,
but we decided to try and get a used Mach when i returned from Iraq.

IMO it had a great blend of old and new....which im a fan of!!

well guess what ?

Instead im deployed again in Afghanistan and manged to get a new Mach for the price of the used.

I havent even seen it yet!!! Comp Orange with the IUP.

120 days and counting!!

I had an '02 GT, it was my first new car and I loved that thing to death, but the deal on the '03 Mach was just too good to pass up and to match the output of the DOHC motor I would have needed to do some extensive modifications to my GT.

Swweetness 05-15-2004 02:14 PM

I saw the photo of the prototype in the magazines and decided right there if I could afford one when they came out I would get one. Finances worked out, and I ordered it as soon as I could. First drive in a Mach was when I left the dealership in my Mach. Couldn't be happier. What a sweet car.

Screaming Mach 05-15-2004 03:18 PM

The retro look-kind of a connection to the old cars. And it has the power to back it up! :gears:

muddman 05-15-2004 04:37 PM

The only thing I wished It came with was more power just little more but the looks of the car make up for it.:gears:
