Is it still tandem nut to butt racing? I won't watch or go to Daytona or Talladega again until they find a better way to race.

Re: NASCAR thread

They banned all driver communications, reduced rad size, cars are still doing it. The only way to fix it is NO RESTRICTOR PLATES. Personally, I prefer Tandem over the huge 20+ car trains, at least with tandems the cars are spread out more.

Side note, BUD SHOOTOUT ON SATURDAY!!! Who else is ready for some left turns again, Edwards needs redemption!

I liked the freight train. I thought it was incredible to watch in person.

Re: NASCAR thread

I just didn't like the fact that 1 car loses it, half the field is gone. And that it doesn't matter if you run first all race, everyone will *cut you out* on the last lap. All opinions though, restrictor plate racing sucks, the cars are safe enough now that they could handle it without restrictors. If they are that worried about speed, racing with smaller V8s (302/305 vs the 350/351).

Robert Yates tried a smaller engine back in the early 90's.
The guy is a genius.
There was a MAXIMUM displacement rule, but no minimum.
So he built some 310 CID motors and used the same plate as the 358 CID,
and made more power with the smaller motor.
Naturally, since it was a Ford team, (Davey Allison driving)
ASSCAR immediately changed the rules to a minimum 355 CID rule.
Just like the new cooling system rule,
it was meant to hurt the Fords.
One superior part of the FR9 engine was the cooling system.
ASSCAR and Brian "the pansy" France would have none of that.

They have a hate on for Ford for some unknown reason. Edwards SHOULD have won last year, I rewatched the race last night, amazing how the cars literally cleared a path for stewart at the end but gave edwards a hard time. Oh well, Edwards will get them this year!!

What ever it is, Ill watch. My tickets for martinsville should be here anytime. We are renting a house in near Mooresville for the Coke 600 at Charlotte and we will probaly go to the World of Outlaws race on friday down there. We have start/finish line seats for both martinsville and the Charlotte cup races. Charlottle Motor Speedway is an Awesome Facility if youve never been there, go. Ill probably go to Richmond as well. I got NASCAR fever. :gears:

Re: NASCAR thread

Martinsville was a great track because everything is within very short walking distance. We were about 100 yards or so from the track to our camping spot. Definitely the most hillbilly track I've been to.

Looks a preview of next weekends crash-fest.
No mention in the pre-race of Chads 'indescrection'?!? And no penalty until after the 500??? What's up with that?

Re: NASCAR thread

You've got cars doing half nut to butt racing, and half freight train racing. That aint gonna mix well at all.

Re: NASCAR thread

Pack racing... where 1 accident becames 5 accidents.

Thunderbolt 02-18-2012 10:16 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

Gordon is such an idiot. If he blocks you, it's ok. If you block him he either wrecks you or whines about being blocked after the race. I saw that wreck coming a mile away.

Rice_slayer 02-18-2012 10:21 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

Gordon has always been a cry baby, one of the reasons I have no respect for him. He b*tches about EVERYTHING. I hate pack racing, I'm in between with tandem, why can't we have normal racing on dega/daytona like at tracks like charlotte/atlanta/vegas etc etc.

KB is still an azzhole but that was impressive.

Re: NASCAR thread

If the 500 is like the Bud Shootout I'll definitely watch it. I thought it was a good race. I like the freight train racing, but I've only been following Nascar since 1996, so I never saw non-restrictor plate in the 70's and 80's. I only watched the Indy 500 back then.

Agreed. The kid is an amazing driver, too bad he is such an a**hole, maybe that can change, but I doubt it. And restrictor plates suck. The cars are plenty safe now that they don't need them. I like speedweeks and the Daytona 500, but super speedway racing needs to go back to the ways of the 70/80s, where raw HP really won the race. Makes sense though, Ford made the most, so nascar had to limit that...
