mach 1 autos
why do the auto mach1s only rev to 6k when the manuals rev to 7k
if i get a handheld can i tune the car to shift at 7k like the manual or is this not advised for the automatics im thinkin if i do this i can beat my bf's gt for now and he aint gotta know lol:mean!: |
Re: mach 1 autos
From what I understand, our torque converter in the automatic can't handle 7K.If you want to improve your shifts, a tuner can firm up your shifts and shift points, I did that.7K shift point , I would'nt.If I was gonna race my stang, I would get a Darrin converter,he's a member on this forum and I hear nothing but good things about his products.Do a search and I'm sure he'll pop up.Good luck.............................Kevin

Re: mach 1 autos
You should call him, He builds them Car specific, Everything about your car makes a difference on type of Converter Built..
I bought one from him, and I can honestly say, I am in Love wih my car all over again !!! Makes your car feel like 2000 lbs instead of 3500 |
Re: mach 1 autos
It isn't the converter (altho the stock converter is too weak for a power adder) the weak link is the spiral lock ring that is behind the pump. If you use Darrin's modified ring assy you can rev it faster than the engine can handle. While you are in the tranny changing that you might as well change the OD band and the pump seal.

Re: mach 1 autos
When I had Darrins Converter installed, I had a improved Spiral clip installed. The original clip was already coming outta place..
