Spark plug smashed

A buddy has a 01gt 2 valve in his fox with a vortech, and snow meth injection. Last week he was driving along and #8 spark plug the electrode was smashed and started missing. The electrode was not completly smashed just pushed down and you could see where it had been hit. We put a new plug in and gapped it a little smaller. a week later another plug this time in cylinder #2. He does not beat on the car and not sure of the tune, it has a wideband that goes all over the place. Any ideas?

I know that this is a 4 valve site but there are some smart guys here.

well if the wideband is going wackey that should indicate there is an issue.
could be a # of things going on. need more info on the car, built bottom end? stock heads? cams? etc

Re: Spark plug smashed

yea... you see this car was put together with a total of about 4,000 bucks including the car. We have dyno charts from the from the car we used the vortech sc with methanol. We used the chip from that car, as it had the same exact mods. The car has never been dynoed while in this configuration. Yea I know, that is not smart, it drove good untill now and if the bottom end gives out, well thats ok. I am just wondering if anyone has seen this smashed spark plug issue?

how could it smash the plugs unless he is using the wrong size? I don't know, just throwing that out there.

That would mean that 2 ring lands broke in 2 cylinders. Not saying that it cant. I know these pistons are crap.

yup yup. if you had some detonation or had a small case of it over a period of time that could have been enough to push them over the edge lol

Bottom line, a spark plug electrode doesnt smash itself.

Given there is a supercharger, we know an object was not ingested through it or the blower would have come to pieces. This pretty much leaves something after the blower to damage the electrode.

Do a leakdown test on #2 and #8.
