Daughter just got her learner's permit

Everyone in Texas, get off the road...

I don't think I have ever been under so much stress than riding shot-gun teaching her how to drive. I somewhat assumed all those years of gokarts that she would have no issues! Last night I learned that gokarts never taught her the defensive driving part and she changes lanes like an F-1 driver. In a go-kart she would do donuts, drift, ride on two wheels and control it.

Rethinking our first few drives, I should have told her not to drive it like her go-kart. Doh!

When on 380, she told me she was a little nervous but the faster she drove the happier she became, I think I have a problem. :)

Congrats!

there is nothing like riding shotgun feeling like you're moving at 60 and looking over at the speedo to see it only on 40.

and be prepared not to see her as much once she is driving on her own.

i started letting my spawn drive on days i telecommute and get texts about an hour after school like:
'at the mall'
'at Bass Pro'
'at the park air-softing'
'at Burger King'

Thanks, just think, when I brought home the Mach she was 4.5 years old, now she is 15.5... she has been around that car a long time. :)

When she gets her skills down, I will let her take the Mach to School on occasion, all her guy friends already don't believe she will be driving it. This will be fun.

But, right now I have to get her defensive driving cranked way up. Almost got T-Boned last night, she had the right away but I had to explain that the right away does not matter if you are in the hospital!

that list can be broken down to one message:
'out spending money'
haha

I am sure she will be all over town as well.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

10
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

11
Give us today our daily bread.

12
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13
And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

I understand...mine turned 16 in November and has no desire to drive yet...
which is fine with me for the moment.

I was driving at 15...not sure how my father survived that...the idea of her behind the wheel is almost too much to bear...

But...

she will take drivers ed next year...

funny part is her little brother (8) who is also Autistic has taken to watching motorcycle racing videos on youtube...drag, dirt, road....

Help me....

my son is 20 now and I remember when he first started drive scared the poop out of me a few times but turned out to be a good driver so far, and now he drives a 2014 mustang gt/cs. he has no tickets or wreck but the insurance bill still sucks. had insurance at farm bureau but they cancelled it because I had my mach 1 and his 2014 gt/cs and he was only 18. but my scares me way more than my son ever has. I think I've bent her passenger side floorboard putting on brakes for her.

Re: Daughter just got her learner's permit

My daughter has been driving for almost 2 years now. I was really worried at first, but quickly learned to trust her. She hasn't had a single incident in two years, but she drives very slow and she is very careful.

Luckily my wife had to teach her to drive, I have only been in the car with her driving one time, she just refuses to allow me to ride with her.

When she started I decided to find her a safe vehicle so we found he a low mileage AWD Edge that was loaded. She can get to school and back safely in some pretty shitty weather. She also has a Mach1 that she occasionally drives in the summer. We took one of the vehicle monitors out of our company vehicles and put it in her Edge, we can get on our phone, and see where she is, how fast shes going, where shes been etc.
