Anyone try the new Nitto 555 Gen2s?

I just noticed that Nitto came out with a Gen2 version of the 555. It looks like it it is more comparable to the NT05 in traction and load with a tread wear rating more like the 555 gen 1. Which would be awesome.

Has anyone tried them out? I'm going to put them on my fusion for a summer tire.

I've got them on my 04. They're ok. If I want I can spin into 3rd. But if I try I can pedal in 2nd. First just spins no matter what. If it's cold outside forget it. And cold for me is in the 50's. I had a run with an S197 last Friday and I was struggling to get any traction so I didn't lose.

I'm looking at going back to 555R's or maybe trying R888's.

I've got them on the front of my car, they ride well and handling wise I'd say they're ok. Think the rating on them is 320 so for the rear they're too soft for anything more than stock.

I think you mean hard. A softer tire will hook better, but not last as long.

Lol my bad, yeah they are hard. I think in the front they will last till they dry rot .

Cool. The only thing I disliked about the 555s were the sidewalls feeling spongy. I really liked the handling on the NT05s but they wore out quickly.

Don't expect either to be on the traction level of a r888 or drag radial. But its on a mildly modded ecoboost fusion so that won't be an issue.

FWIW we have them on all four corners on our 06. I've gone towards the handling side with that one. It handles really well. And there's no issues in the rain.

Just put some 315's on the rear. Haven't burned the stickers off yet, Trying to heat cycle, but will let you know. My old 315 555's handled ok, but offered hardly any power off the the dig. That is on my street set up.

I have the Nitto 555 Gen 2s on the front wheels of my 2004 Mach. I must say that they handle surprisingly well in the rain compared to the Gen 1s I used to have and the ride is more comfortable and quiet in comparison.

Finally got a break in the weather to put these street tires though the paces. Keep in mind, I have 315/35/17 only in the rear. from what I've experienced, these tires are 50% better then my old 315 555's. Traction is so much better, not a dr, but I no longer swap ends when my auto his second. they are quieter, handle better in the twisties and much more confident in a downpour at 65mph.

This all sounds good. I wonder if they've got plans to gen 2 the 555R's now?
