Thanks for the help, I took the easy path and added a spacer. Both sides needed it.

So I spent an hour, here and there in the evening to try and make more progress. I finally finished the brakes and front suspension. The actual swapping of parts is really quick, but I chose to take the extra time to clean everything up that I took off and put a coat of paint on it. The cleaning is a pain, but it is worth it. Knowing that I am waiting on parts makes it much easier to spend all this extra time. (looking at the pictures, I should clean the inner fender, does not look that bad in person, only when the flash hits it. lol)

I had the rotors turned, had a very slight warp feel, they are lifetime warranty rotors, so the company has the first right for a free turn, if this fails then they give me new ones. I then touched up the non-contact area with caliper/rotor paint. I have done this in the past and they hold up very well.

And of course, I completely forgot to consider how the steering rack mounts to the UPR K-Member. I have MM solid mounts but when I crawled under the Mach to install them, I realized they will not work. This is the point where I :wall:. I should have known better, but just did not think about it, I did buy grade 8 shorter bolts, but no clue why I did not think about the bushings. I ordered a set of Prothane Poly bushings from LMR, they should be here today maybe tomorrow. Only $17.00, but waiting again on a part. :rolleyses

On to the next topic, Brake Pedal.

Since I am going Automatic, how easy is it to swap to an automatic pedal configuration? Is it a matter of changing the brake arm and removing the clutch or does it requiring swapping out a complete assembly?

My only experience in this area is my Cuda and it required swapping out the entire pedal assembly. Easy when the dash is out, pita when the interior is complete.

Thanks,

Please take lots of pics and give details on the auto swap. I have a feeling a may be doing an auto swap soon as well. However I'm leaning towards a C4 since I have an extra one laying around.

Will do, I will try to create a full parts list of the conversion with pics. Maybe get this list compiled this weekend with pictures of the parts I currently have. I have some already in the thread but those are just the interesting (fun) parts. BTW, making sure your trans lines have the right PSI is apparently very important as to much will have a devastating effect on the motor, additional pressure against the crank from my understanding. All fixed by a $30.00 mod. Not sure if this is an issue with the C4.

What was wrong with the solid mm bushings? I'm gonna have the same issue this winter.
Also... Check out this brake kit.

I will try to explain it. :)

The aluminum bushings require the removal of the factory bushing spacer. The UPR-Kember design has this spacer as the mounted point and factory rubber bushings slide over this spacer with the bolt going in the middle.

Sheesh, I wrote this a few times, I will just put pictures of this tonight that better shows what I am trying to say. :(

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log

Monday Evening update.
This weekend progress was pretty much a standstill, instead I decided to do a 5k on Saturday with my Daughter to support Fund raising for a cure for cancer. Actually, it was the best time I have had together with my daughter is a long time. It was for a good cause and we raised a good amount of money for an excellent organization.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-W...o/IMG_1978.JPG

After this, we went to Sanger for test-n-tune, buddy ran a 7.2 1/8th at 104mph. He just could not get out of the hole but man was he quick on the top end.

Sunday, relaxed (Nascar and GTA).

Monday I finally completed the steering. Prothane bushings for the Steering rack came in, greased up the bushings with Prothane Super Grease, Grade 8 bolts, 6 inch in length, wish I had 5.5. Oh well. Had to remove the oil filter to remount the rack as the lines were hitting the oil filter. Once installed, the lines are not in the way.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-C...o/IMG_1988.JPG

Next I started to disassemble the front of the Mach in preparation to pull the motor. I just need to disconnect the Air Conditioner compressor from the block, unbolt the brake booster, drain and remove the radiator, then comes the motor.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-7...o/IMG_1989.JPG

Top picture, I do wish I had done this before I did all the other work, anytime you free up space in the garage is an added bonus.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_...o/IMG_1993.JPG

Tonight, pulling the radiator after I get home from the gym. That 5k showed me I need to return to the gym more. I was drained on Sunday.

Why not just drill out the bushings to fit over that sleeve?

With the way the mount is made on the UPR K-Member, you lose the rotating swivel of the rear bushing. Also, drilling out the center disk to the size that would be needed would make the contact area limited. It may be fine was I was not comfortable drilling it out, only because of the rear mount. The picture below illustrates the rear mount I am referring to.

Made a bit more progress tonight. Removed the overflow tank, radiator, hoses, etc.

Also removed, all the shaker brackets, upper intake, alternator, power steering reservoir, etc.

Another shot, btw, my favorite tool, Orange BFH! Love that thing.

Fuel System Update:
Just ordered three Walbro 465lph fuel pumps, I think this will be enough fuel. A bit overkill but the price was right.

wow, just noticed this was my 1k post, first time I have had this many posts on any forum. :)

The top of that intake manifold is dirty! An oil seperator will keep all that off if you decide to clean it.

Congrats on the 1k post. I'm heading near 5k. I'm started to get a bit concerned. I finally got a smart phone and my posting has jumped considerably. That and having an office job almost entirely since i've joined.

that is about 85k miles of build up before I put a separator on it. I can only imagine what it looked like before I did that.

Yes, being connected all the time will prove to be a huge distraction. :)

With using the mm solid bushings, you cut off the extra piece of the sleeve on the stock k. Why not just cut that sleeve off on the upr k?

I suppose you could do that, but still not interested in attempting to drill out the rear washer that is a cone shape. I just don't think you give up much with the poly bushings, they are really stiff and easier to deal with on this setup. If you try it, let me know how it works out.

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log

Wed. Night's update

I pulled the Intake in this picture, there was a ton of dirt so I grabbed my shop vac and cleaned it up so nothing dropped inside the ports. Then used brake cleaner to prep the surface for painters tape.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z...o/IMG_2006.JPG

Before I start pulling parts off of the front cover, I took this picture as a reference for assembly.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j...o/IMG_2009.JPG

Taped up the ports, don't want to lose anything down there. :)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-N...o/IMG_2012.JPG

Pulled the water pump, pulleys, tensioner, AC Compressor dropped as well as the hydraulic pump. I kept all the lines connected, hoping not to have to break those seals.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Q...o/IMG_2016.JPG

Mounted the hoist bar, the last thing to do is remove the heater hoses that connect to the firewall. I know they just push on and 'click' in place but not sure how to remove them yet. Figured google will be my friend here. If anyone reads this as has a simple explanation of removing them, that would be great!

Thanks, did the trick. I am always gentle on those locking plastic parts, sometimes to gentle.

Weekend update:

Popped off the heater hoses, thanks for the help. Then it was out in 5 minutes.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S...o/IMG_2024.JPG

Now I have to figure out how to play musical engines, I will have to push the Mach outside for a while and since my driveway is slopped I will have to enlist all my neighbors. :)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-I...o/IMG_2025.JPG

Here's the 3 465lph Walbro pumps I picked up.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-W...o/IMG_2027.JPG

Pulled all the covers off of the old engine and decided to clean up the Valve Covers. I was on the fence between DSG or Wrinkle Black finish. I tried the DSG but did not like it so I re-shot them in wrinkle black. I have always liked this look.
