Do you need 4wd?

My dad had a ram w/4wd and never used it. Talk about a waste that was.

But dakato would make a nice little PU for simple needs.

No. Regular cab's are too small IMHO. Like machgsxr said, do you need 4WD? I'm personally not a fan of Dodge, Chevy or Ford's V6's. I would rather go with a V8.

The v8 chevy pu picks up pretty good.

My part time job has one and I got to drive it one weekend. Let's just say it was a fun weekend.

You can usually find used Toyota Tundras pretty cheap.. I know they are rice but are good trucks....

Re: Buying A Truck

Dakota or Tacoma is what I am looking at.

4WD is a want and is used.

I dont want a full size truck like F150 or Tundra.

Dont need a V8, not looking for that much power.

In that case I would go with the Tacoma

How much is the 03 Dakota?

I worked for a toyota dealer here for 2 years and am good friends with the GM
I could see if they have anything.... although TN is a little far from NJ

How much is the Dakota? My dad was in the same dilemma as you but he went with the Ford Explorer Sports Trac.

Re: Buying A Truck

I did not buy it.

The Dakota is 14,998. It is just not exactly what I am looking for but it is very very close!

I am looking for a regular or extended cab, manual, power windows/locks, 4 or 6cyl with 4WD. Back sliding glass window. NJ is not too far, I'd come get it for the right price. I am looking to be around $15k before taxes, etc.

if its just a DD, you dont need 4wd. takes a solid 3mpg city away from you. Take a look into toyota tundras(i know its not american but its not that bad of a truck)

Re: Buying A Truck

I know what I want and it includes 4WD.

Anyone here have a unlimited CarFax account? I need a VIN checked, I think I found the truck I am looking for.

Re: Buying A Truck

Forget it. All I was looking for was a yes or no about that first truck and it has turned into a "you dont need 4WD" and "v6 sux" bash session.

I am looking for a simple daily driver with 4WD that I can enjoy. Dodge and Toyota's have a good body style that I like.

Me too...I had 3 of them and ran them to 100k miles. They just so dang expensive! :)

That is because they last and are now very popular. I wouldn't buy a dodge. A friend had one it sucked, my brother has one, it also sucks, my uncle bought and traded one it within a year because guess what, it sucked also. I would save up a little bit more and get the yota, you will probably be much happier in the end.

I know 'kopacko' says he is looking for a Dodge or Toyota, but if someone checking out this thread is looking for a Ford, I have my 2005 FORD F-150 STX 4WD listed right here on the Mach 1 Registry.

Hehehe...Jesse...I would actually buy that if it was just a few grand cheaper :(

Go with the Toyota. Better built and better quality for a little more money.

I may get extremely aggressive with the selling price towards the end of June, provided the truck hasn't sold.

My reason for selling is, I have a written dealer confirmation on a 2007 Shelby GT500 at MSRP. I ordered a coupe, ebony with performance white stripes and was assigned priority 15. I have the cash to pay for the Shelby but the sad reality is, I'm not strong enough financially to keep my 2005 F-150 and my 2004 Mach 1 azure blue; both have clear titles. I've just recently taken a deposit on my 2004 Mach 1. Liquidating both vehicles makes writing the big check for the Shelby GT500 easier.

This whole thing started with me being on the list for a Shelby GT500. Honestly, I thought I'd be one of those people on the list whom didn't get a Shelby and I wasn't going to pay over MSRP. I would be just as happy to keep both vehicles if the Shelby GT500 never materalized. Sometimes I question myself about what I've gotten into. My Mach 1 is a nice car I've taken good care of. I may regret letting it go. The truck isn't hurt either as you can tell, I haven't driven it much.
