Help! P0308 multiple fixes attempted

Ok guys, what am I forgetting. I have the P0308 SES light and so far I have tried injector cleaner/lubricant additive, injector replacement, coil pack, and last but not least, the old spark plug. What other thoughts do you guys have to check? Should I be looking electrical to make sure I’m getting enough fuel? Do you think piston ring? HELP?

I would verify that connector to both the injector and coil pack are good - on my lightning one of the coil connectors broke so you could just slide it on and off. I'd go ahead and just trace out the visible wiring while you're at it for obvious rubs. Could be anything down to a bad coil or injector driver on the pcm even.

This is one of those things it might be worth ponying up to let a shop with the IDS computer hook up to it and see whats going on. They identified my misfire cause within a couple of minutes. $95 and a ziptie later I was on my way (i replaced the connectors myself when I got home). IDS can also identify low compression (relative to other cylinders, not an absolute number).

Sounds like a plan, I’ll look into finding a good shop in the Orange County CA area. Unless anyone has a suggestion??

You try compression test and or leak down test?

You could have a seat that drop down?

Ok finally an update. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. Finally got the chance to get a compression test and everything went terribly. Got an oily plug, bad values on the compression test and a serious rough idle anywhere below 2k rpm. #8 cylinder time of death, 11/2/20.

Next move is to rebuild the motor, can’t afford the Coyote, more looking at beefing up the 4.6. Got a good motor guy, just saving up the cash to get it done, driving the 7 cylinder beast in the meantime... ugh engine rebuild was not what I was hoping for. Any lessons learned that I should be on the lookout for or components that you guys feel are a must have?

Send the info!!

Well that sucks, but glad you got it figured out.
Man it all comes down to your budget to be honest.

One thing I forgot to do on my 04 Mach was I forgot to get cams installed, don't ask me how I forgot them, but I did.
I don't know if your planning on doing cams.

I guess what are your plans for the Mach, once you answer that, I believe we will be able to help you.

Honestly, after seeing the cost of coyote swap compare to getting a DSS Racing built engine, the coyote swap is the way to go, it is cheaper from the ones that guys are telling how much it cost them and are at that 400hp n/a.

Are you just wanting to replace it with same set up,
what are your hp/tq your wanting
boost
etc.

Just need to know what your plans and budget is.
