Carlisle All Ford Nationals - Mach 1 Registry Meet 2009

Alright it's only 365 day away. Post up if you're going. :23:

I actually did talk to a Carlisle official Saturday (7 Jun 2008) about a theme for 2009. They are always looking for themes for the following year. This past year we started talking up 2008 as the 40th for the Cobra Jet cars shortly after the 2007 show and it became one of their themes.

Anyway, I told Rick Markko (Carlisle Event Manager) about 2009 being the 40th Anniversary of the Mach I (1969-2009) to get him thinking in that direction.

Here's a link to Carlisle's website to let them know what you thought was good, bad, or needs improvement for next year:

Mark, do the on-line survey and put that in the survey. I wrote that area up as a hazard because of the loose gravel and dust. I said they should pave that parking area if they were going to put showcased cars there. Owners who have their cars there don't like the gravel and dust getting on their cars.

next year, I found this place, http://www.carlislesportsemporium.com/
I could see it off I-81 when we were coming down.

They have go-karts, golf, etc... maybe an evening of fun? Sat. night.? Maybe see if they have food and stuff. Get a group together, at least anyone staying in Carlisle area could come over....

Great suggestion. I will go there and do that. Not only is it a hazard due to the loose gravel, they removed the fence that seperated the sidewalk/street from the lot. While they had security, I was not comfortible leaving the old car there over night (even though the run in with a 1967 Econoline on a dolly at 2:00 in the camping area wasn't fun..long story) Not sure how they charged anyone admission to see the 135 series cars and the Cobra Jets if they didn't go inside the fairground. I won't bring a car and enter it in the show if that is where they put them. I will still come, just no car.

It's been a few years since I was there but the indoor track used to be alot of fun. They were sprint cars and the track was slick.

Sounds like fun!!
I imagine we can get kicked out of that place like any other. :)
Curt (CMEMach1) gets the blue car, and I think he's requested a second set of tires be on hand if he goes more then two laps.

I was all for the beer can wind chime tent decos. Bring some string and tie each empty can to the outside of the tent. Everyone could help build it, would be a real team effort.
