2020 Mach1 hybrid SUV!?

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone else disappointed it's a hybrid? I'd have preferred a nice 5.2 V8.

"Apparently someone spoke with Raj Nair after the intro and was told that the Mach 1 would be on a unique chassis, not the current Mustang chassis
Another person told me he overheard someone say it would be an all-electric crossover utility. That is bound to piss off the Mustang faithful, if it is true."

Ford PR rep Mike Levine just tweeted that the Mach 1 will be a “high performance battery electric SUV.”

No, just really surprised.
2019 Bullitt is real.

I got quoted for a PP2 as 51k with tax and tags included. A Bullitt would be close to that. The PP2 had mag ride and shaker audio on it.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

I'm seeing postings up that indicate that it will be an SUV either called a Mach 1 or the Mach 1 name will go with the powerplant on various applications. W...T...F???

I love the new Bullitt, but this info on the Mach is incredibly disappointing.

Pick your poison.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

Looks like those here are just as confused as I am on this "teaser Mach 1 announcement" from Ford today. Will the Mach 1 name be used for just an electrified performance Mustang coming in 2020? Will the Mach 1 name be used on multiple models of the Ford lineup which may or may not include the Mustang? Will the Mach 1 name be used on a single all-new Ford vehicle (and not the Mustang as we know it today)? Don't screw this up Ford!!

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

Perhaps our cars just got a bump in value
The last of the v-8 powered Mach 1’s

I get all the drive for the technology. I understand that all cars are evolving

But NO....A Mach1 is not an electric car

Stupid move imho. Very disappointed if this pans out to be true.

Plus the price tag is getting ridiculous

I get 60k for GT350 as it’s a purpose built track car...but 50-55k for a loaded GT just makes Mustang no longer affordable for us mere mortals...unless you go base model...

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

Stupid. Ford already steered me away from buying an F-150. If I ever got the money to buy another performance car, I'd go with having all Dodges in my garage.

ab_mach1 01-15-2018 12:47 AM

I can’t believe they want to put the Mach 1 name on an SUV?! I don’t understand what connection can be made with Mach 1, a hybrid setup, or an SUV.

They should've called the bullet the mach 1 and gave it mach 1 styling cues and let the bullet die. If this is true it's a dumb move and is gonna piss off a lot of their fan base. Compound this with them potentially screwing up the look of the new Bronco and just rebaging an Everest and they're gonna be hurting. Hell they really never changed the global ranger and just released it here.

Should have just put the Power parts from the Bullitt(gt350 IM, intake and TB) on the PP2 GT and added a dual ram air hood like the 70's Mach1 and then called it Mach1. Though having just a 15hp bump over a GT is kinda sad for a "mach1". I was hoping for an NA CPC 5.2L.

Either way I'm buying a Bullet and adding the PP2 handling bits.

I've given up on Ford. I know things change but this is an SUV load of crap. Guess it's time to buy a Challenger.

definitely a bad move on Ford's part no matter which way it goes to do an electric anything as a Mach.

Is this an early April Fool’s Joke? Seems like someone at Ford has gone off the edge.

that probably the base they will use...the edge.

Ford has forgotten the hand that feeds them, I understand times are changing but if this is true about the Mach1. Then Ford will no different than if Toyota put a Supra emblem on a Prius.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?

As I recall Ford pulled crap like this in the late 80s when it tried to make the Mustang a front wheel drive sports car(?). A massive back lash convinced them otherwise.
Time to storm the gates?

They were going to introduce the Mazda based front wheel drive Probe as the new Mustang. This is just another stupid Idea.

We had a sweet little cherry red probe with a 5spd back in the day (early-mid 90's). Too bad you never see them around anymore. Good looking little cars, really. However, they were never going to replace the mustang and ford quickly realized that.

Something tells me that link is a bunch of click bait.

Unfortunately, it's not fake. I was getting ready for a new Mustang Mach 1. This is extremely disappointing. Maybe enough people will complain and they'll change the name.

My mom had a gen 1 V6 and I had a second gen V6 GT. Both were a lot of fun to drive. Moms got traded and mine got sold, after which it soon fell apart pretty much. I doubt many have survived.

It's not when Fords PR rep confirms it:

Ours was a second generation as well. I believe it was a GT but I wasn't even 10 yet so the memory is fuzzy. I havent seen one in so long I can't remember.
