What's up with the procharger guys? Why are they always so defensive and quick to talk smack? Are they feeling inadequate with what they have? They need to keep the smack talk in there own dedicated forums. :butt:

Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
That's what I was thinking Tony. Marty any belt slip?
|
Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
I did initially have belt slip (around 5800 rpm) and tried to find a better fitting belt, but I couldn't find one for a 3.5 upper so I changed to a 3.0 and a different belt that worked. With the 3.0 it increased my HP about 70 but the torque came up a hundred. I know I can run more boost but it has enough for me (at the moment) and I want some longevity out of this motor. With a 91 octane tune it still put down 600/575 with 15deg.
Dyno day sucked. Moved car from OKC via trailer to Dallas a few days prior. Dyno day had rain and I find out my wipers are inop and I'm driving in Dallas where I haven't a clue where I'm going and trying to follow someone to get me there. Car won't hardly run (WTF?) I'm having to work the clutch, throttle, hand brake and keep the RPMs about 1500 at a gazillion enroute stop signs! No cash on me so I can't take the tollway and my stress is peaked. Get on the dyno and my Xcal2 takes a dump. Buy a 3, start the car and the MAFia is broke, (no MAF signal and I get another one)..........lets just say the day was long and 'spensive! Sorry for the long post but that was one heck of a day. I drove the car back to OKC with a smile and I like the Comp cams. |

With a stock lower, 3" upper, 9:1 compression, you should be seeing 17-18 psi of boost. The fact you are running 17 degrees of timing implies 18 psi as thats a safe timing for that boost level. Tony |
Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
Its electric....I should put a mechanical on it and see what it reads. Thanks Tony!
|
Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
As Tony stated get a mechanical boost gauge on there and see where your at. Another thing is when you up the compression your boost also goes up. Marty I can't remember but are you running the 03-04 Cobra belt setup or did you just piece together your own 8-rib setup? Sounds like you had a horrible ride to the dyno that day. I've removed my wipers and got caught once on a day it wasn't supposed to rain and had a nice 45 minute ride home in a torrential downpour.

Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
I'm using the Billet Flow 90 and 100mm pulleys throughout and added the one that mounts near the top to get almost a full wrap on the blower pulley. I do still have the 03-4 Cobra lower braced pulley. I'm sure my wipers is a wiring or relay issue. The fuses check ok but then I normally won't drive in the rain so its not a big deal. I just like my stuff to work when you activate a switch!
I'll check into a mechanical boost gage and see what it displays. |
Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
I've had my K/B for about 2k miles now and now that its cooler out I was hoping the fan wouldn't run on high so much. Anyone have any success with a larger aftermarket radiator? Or if you've found another solution all input would be greatly appreciated.
|
Re: Official Whipple/KB/Eaton HP/TQ/mods thread:
I run the Mishimoto radiator and my car never goes above 180-185 but honestly your stock one should be sufficient. As far as the fan you can have it come on at different times or different speeds via a tune. Did you get a custom tune or are you using the chip from KB?
