can i please have everyones thoughts on e85. thinking about a conversion, i currently go from pump gas to c16, change supercharger pulleys etc. thinking about leaving the small pulley on, converting to e85 and just leaving it alone at that point. 93 pump gas i use a 3.9 pulley 12 psi, c16 i use a 3.4 @ 18.5 psi. can you make more power with less boost on e85 compared to c16? thanks guys

I am an E85 supporter. I have not dealt with C16 but my understanding is the power is similar but you will need to flow more fuel so you may have to increase your injector sizes, added cost of course. To give you an idea; 750RWHP via a 3 speed auto maxes my injectors out, they are 80's.

Also, not all stations have equal quality E85, just because it states E85, it is normally in the range of E70-85 with winter blends being E70. Depending on your tune, you may want to test the fuel at your local stations. Typically, I get my E85 from the same place and it is pretty consistent, but from location to location it is not.
QTs E85 have tested closer to e70 and even worse. Kroger E85 has been really good and have even seen it better than E85.

Make sure your fuel filter supports E85; I went with a. stainless steel cleanable type.

i'm currently at 9.5 : 1 compression, safe to say that i should bring that number to 10.5:1? i had belt slip issues with the 3.4 pulley so i had it coated but that coated eats up belts, which makes driving the car annoying. i wouldn't mind lowering the boost and make up the power elsewhere if possible such as compression and head work.

Yes, the fuel seems to be pretty consistent at the same station. I normally only really check it when they start to switch the supply for the winter mix, which is E70. Being in Texas, some stations do not make any changes. Northern states will.

I run 11.5:1 with 13-14 lbs of boost. When I dropped a valve seat, since I had to get a new piston I decided to replace all of them and upped the compression, really glad I did. Drives fantastic! Did 750rwhp with 13-14boost, Boost controller was set to 13 but I suspect is creeped up a bit and the boost comes in much quicker now. I ran out of injectors, the 80s got maxed out so I had to stop at 13psi. :(

I run E85 in my Mach 1 and my Terminator.
The Mach has a 2.6 Kennebell, pushes around 22# of boost and gets driven almost daily. E85 is fantastic as long as you can find stations that carry it!
I just filled up yesterday and paid $1.94 a gallon at a local SHEETZ station.

I've checked mine randomly and have always ended up getting at least 85% to 87% E85 and never had any issues.

The only 2 drawbacks I've had are -
1. Drop in gas mileage. On pump gas (93) I averaged 16mpg. On E85 I get 10-11mpg.
2. Cold starts. E85 does not want to start/light-off easily when cold. So it take a few tries to get going compared to pump (93).

Seeing what happens when E85 sits for certain amounts of time, I’m not interested. We have E85 here but I can also get 106 octane here too. So pump gas normally and racing fuel when feeling dangerous.
