What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1

Well I have done a few mods and have done my best to dyno after each mod or group of mods to see what the gains were and my last dyno put me at 301 rwhp and 319 rwtq.

Bone Stock = 266 hp

Bassani SS Offroad X-Pipe and Catback K&N Air Filter (Drop In) = 283 hp

SCT Custom Chip = 292 hp

PHP Intake Spacer and JLT RAI = 301 hp

Also noteworthy, its not all about the peak HP/TQ, on the curve there are some areas of significant gain from mod to mod.

I just thought this might help some of you who might be questioning as I did what mods make the most difference. By far the exhaust/K&N was the single largest gain so far. Like many of you I hate spending money on stuff that doesn't help the car, or causes a loss in power. What a waste.

southbeachmach1 10-08-2004 06:09 PM

Something I forgot to say, before the dyno with the chip, I put Bassani High Flow CATS into the x-pipe....

So the #'s with chip and JLT RAI and PHP Intake Spacer are with Bassani CATS. I am comtemplating taking the cats back out.

Good job Southbeachmach1! So are you going to run it soon? Going to Ford Fest this weekend?

IZZY 10-09-2004 01:07 AM

Congrats on the 300+ club:CHEERS: I don't know about sobe but I'll be there on Sat. BTW sobe, aren't you alittle north of Miami to be the Southbeach Mach. 'Sides you aren't comporange.

ZincDude 10-09-2004 11:45 AM

Darnit the Fun Ford thing is this weekend.:(

southbeachmach1 10-09-2004 03:14 PM

Hey guys I ran it last night (Friday) and pulled 13.09 w/ 2.08 60 ft. so I'm real close to pulling a 12 with a hair off the 60 ft.

I think I'm gonna give the car a rest and take out my other toy, the jet ski this weekend.

TheBlkMach1, where are you dynoing your car? I wonder if there is a variation in dyno's.

Do you guys think headers and pulley's will yield an additional 25 hp?

Anyway take care everyone!!

C-dub 10-09-2004 03:37 PM

bassani mid-length's added about 15 hp through out
c.w.

Benefold 10-09-2004 03:47 PM

I got 300.2 HP and 317.8 TQ with only K&N Air Filter, Magnaflow Catted X, and Magnaflow Catback

FL 03 Mach 1 10-09-2004 06:55 PM

Check my sig only 5 hp short.

TheBlkMach1 10-09-2004 06:56 PM

Good run southbeachmach1, you're almost there. My cars getting worked on and dyno'd at Razor's Edge Performance. I'm sure there will be variations in the dyno, especially since my first dyno was done in STD and this one is in SAE.

pdog2000 10-09-2004 08:24 PM

where and when is ford fest?

Fosters 10-09-2004 08:26 PM

just curious, is that an 03 or 04? and do you have the tmx2 computer? (says on the passenger door, next to the latch)

Today and tommorow at Moroso Motorsports Park in N. Palm Beach.

TheBlkMach1 10-09-2004 08:42 PM

Hey southbeach, where did you get your car dyno'd at?

southbeachmach1 10-11-2004 09:47 AM

I've been getting my Chip and Dyno's done at SRC Racing

southbeachmach1 10-11-2004 09:54 AM

Benefold, your lucky or you have a dyno that's off. Did you do a baseline dyno first to see what your's did stock? Some cars pull 280+ out of the box... very lucky

Mine was 266 corrected when tested on a dyno at 5000' when I used to live in Albuquerque. I have heard the magnaflow cat back might be yielding a little more power than Bassani, had I known, I would have gone magnaflow catback. I wonder if I can buy the magnaflow mufflers and mount them in the bassani cat back.

I've got an '03 with the "ZYA2" tag......what's the difference?

One better? Is the tune different?

Kurt04Mach1 10-11-2004 08:56 PM

wow, my car only took a O/R H-Pipe and a chip to get to 303rwhp.:D

I've heard good things about them. When i get my heads and cam eventually, i think i will go there or Razor's Edge.

1WiCKEDMach 10-11-2004 10:27 PM

I had a drop in K&N weld in magnaflows and a offroad slp xpipe
308rwhp, 323rwtq SAE

southbeachmach1 10-12-2004 09:14 AM

Well unless my dyno is reading low. It definitley took a few extra parts to get my car pushing 301 on that dyno at SRC. I think its a good idea to use the same dyno each time though. Regardless of whether its low or high, at least you know what your static gains are in general. Maybe I am pushing more power, because look at my track #'s, If I can get my launch under 2.0, I'm an easy 12.8 - 12.9. What do you guys think?

I have heard alot guys around 300 still are having trouble breaking 13.3, so maybe I am pushing more.

Maybe I should try the dyno at Razor's edge out just to see. How much do they charge?

TheBlkMach1 10-12-2004 09:17 PM

Razor's Edge is, i believe something like $150 an hour. Not too sure though. My friend said he saw the rate fee posted on the wall.

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1

southbeachmach1, i see those are STD numbers (in your sig). most people go by SAE numbers ;)

I'm at 296/315 sae, 302/321 std, so like me, you're about 5 hp short of 300 :p

my mods are JLT cai, mac prochamber and a chip. stock catback/headers.

southbeachmach1 01-25-2005 03:48 PM

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1

Yeah SAE is like 293 :concerned
For the same run, my uncorrected is actually 299 and it was a pretty average South Florida day....humidity and warm - it was mid summer.

Interesting how your turning that much w/o the intake spacer and no-catback/mufflers...

What was your baseline stock? I started from like 267 (SAE)

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1

:bs: Hard to belive 308 with xpipe and mufflers.
