Looks like the long awaited update for the U7146 will be out. I am not holding my breath for this one.

Well after reading about a update scheduled for the end of the summer which never happened. I usually check Diablo's forums especially when I added my wideband controller. I came upon this post http://diablosport.com/index.php?nam...ewtopic&t=4134 check the date on post #23. So I had to ask what was going on after a couple of days I emailed him with the link I posted in that thread here is that response.

The tunes will be much the same, slightly improved. Some in 7r50d didn't make power and we tested many cars in the last 3 months to fix that. The new revision will have capability to hold 5 custom tunes which is done as well. I have also fixed a bunch of realtime data mistakes as well. We were about to make the revision 2 weeks ago and decided to add the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis to it as well. Everything is basicly done now, just have to finish making some tunes and test the release revision. It's too difficult to give dates because I can get swamped with tech support at times.

Do you have a computer with a com port? I had commuication issues with my laptop I think 56000 baud is the setting you need for a db9 usb serial cable I bought mine from Best Buy it was like $34.99. Comes with disk to install drivers. It was just easier to use another computer with a com port worked right away.
When this ever comes available MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR FACTORY TUNE BACK IN YOUR CAR BEFORE UPDATING PREDATOR.

OK, thanks for the advise. I believe my HP laptop has the com port.Actually maybe this one does too?? I built this pc like 4 years ago. Its a MSI motherboard

Just remember before you flash your unit to put the stock tune back into your car. When you have stock tune back in car then reflash your unit with new tune file then go back and reprogram your car.

thats disappointing if I would of seen this before I bought mine I would of gotten the xcal I wanted instead of this POS:anger: tuner...

NO IT REMOVES OBDII MENU which means no EGR off and disable rear o2's. It took the EPA to update the U7146 :anger: :crazy:

Yeap when I heard the planned changes to OBII I said thats my last tune from Diablo.

Ever hear of a custom tune? I always laugh over the guys that fall for marketing and sell a Predator to get a XCal 2 or XCal 3, not knowing that a custom tune with either will accomplish the same end.

Actually when I was in Iraq, I had a 03 Mach1 engine installed in my 00GT.When I got back last Christmas,the installer/tuner uses only SCT software, I had him tune the car with the Diablo first(Don't like wasting money on another handheld) He could'nt get the A/F in the optimum area,it was fairly close,just not right there.So I asked him if I bought a SCT from him could he get the A/F right,he said yes and he did it.So I only sold the Diablo because the tune in my car is SCT,don't need something worth $150-200 in a box.One last thing,I'm transfering to Ft Sill,OK in late summer,now if a tuner that I find up there uses Diablo and not SCT,well don't laugh too hard at me I'm just a stupid grunt,lol lol

If he (the tuner) only uses SCT software, why was he even trying to use a Diablo product to get your car tuned correctly? Neither handheld, be it the Predator or the XCal 2/3, will adequately tune a car directly without using external software.

Well since the car was tuned,I've come to realize that no two tuners are created equal,at the same time he was trying to tune my car.I had to call DanB from PSR to get the info on how to turn off the EGR in the SCT software,so I could tell the tuner how to get my CEL to go off.

so the guy is an SCT dealer and he does not know how to use it ? you had to call someone else to figure out what to change for the EGR ? Is that what I am reading ? What shop was it you took the car to ?

Hey whats up Loanstar? Yea when I went to have my engine swap done,there was no other place in El Paso that did anything like that,IMHO there still is'nt,lol lol.Since I came back from Iraq in December and picked the car up,anything I had done to the car,THR was not even a consideration.I'll be going to Ft Sill,OK in a couple months so I'll have to locate a good reputable speed shop up there somewhere.
