MRT Max Thunder 304SS catback

Just finished installing. What a pain in the. Had to torch and bend the tailpipes to get it even close to fitting. All said and done it looks great and sounds good. I guess the days of getting aftermarket exhaust that fits are gone.

I never heard that about the MRT.
My Borla fit perfectly.

Do you have a different midpipe? Can you post some clips?

Richstag 10-25-2006 09:35 PM

Re: MRT Max Thunder 304SS catback

All stock exhaust. I could post clips later if somebody tells me how. The best I could do is a Leica digital camera video (quicktime format).

Mine were installed with the MRT hpipe. Went on like butter melting on a stove. Sorry you had trouble.

Re: MRT Max Thunder 304SS catback

yeah hopefully when I get a new h-pipe I wont have to bend it all back around. But i do not see why the stck h-pipe would fit differently.

Re: MRT Max Thunder 304SS catback

If you like the sound now you will crap your pants when you get the MRT hpipe. Save up and get it quickly.

Yeah it's too bad you had problems with installing that. I had no problems at all and I have a Bassani midpipe. Definately get that midpipe and it will sound really mean.

Re: MRT Max Thunder 304SS catback

Not sure if I want to replace the midpipe. I had a 5.0 with full exhaust and it became to loud after driving it for years. If a new midpipe makes the sound quality better but not that much louder I would get one tomorrow. Any input from those who have this already is much appreciated. Thanks.

I bet it sounds awesome though. When I get another car I will put full exhaust on this and would like to supercharge it. Until then I can not complain. Thanks.

How much much different does this sound than Borla? I have Stingers and want something a little deeper, especially at idle, with a little less popping on deceleration. Would you say the Max Thunders accomplish this?

Is your h-pipe catted or off road?

I have never heard Borlas in real life. From the clips I have heard, the MRT would be deeper especially if you stick with an h pipe. I would say the Max Thunders would accomlish what you're looking for.

I have a catted pipe and I would consider mine loud too.

I had the MRT Max Thunder catback and the the MRT catted H-pipe on my car for a while. It was louder than I wanted, but it sounded real good. I eventually removed the Max Thunder catback and put on a Magnaflow catback, I left the MRT catted H-pipe on, still sounds real good but not as loud.

I might be wrong but I think only MRT sells the MRT exhaust systems.

Now that my exhaust has seen a few long road trips and broken in it sounds even better. I could not have asked for a better sounding exhaust.

I thought it was just me. Mine has gotten deeper and louder with age. Love it.

It is not just you. But hopefully people do not catch on. By the way, you are the reason I purchased MRT. Thanks for all the good info you inlcluded in the exhaust section about this system.
